My dear friend Peppi knows my inability to pass up unique gadgets and my love of things hot. She sent me a tool to satisfy both!

Thank you Peppi, I love it. I will put it right to work making Jalapeno Poppers.

Now that is a nifty gadget indeed - and one that has been needed for some time. You don't even have to chance touching one little hot pepper seed. Cool!

I bought a Roomba 550 at Costco last week and have to say I'm mad for it. I loathe "doing" floors with a passion. We don't wear shoes inside our house, so that helps keep the carpet and tile a LOT cleaner. But I was astounded at the amount of fine dirt/dust/lint the Roomba picked up. I had to clean "him" out twice during his session (called a mission) in the family room. My husband thought I'd lost my mind when I came home with the Roomba, but he has to admit it's a great gadget. I don't mind all the innards maintenance at the end of each mission - it sure beats shoving my insanely heavy vacuums around the house. Next purchase will be either a Scooba or a Dirt Dog, and I want all three! I'm sure all my tile is very dirty and could really benefit from a Scooba. My cousin, the hard-flooring queen of clean, bought a Shark steam mop and says it just doesn't do the job on her whole house of wood flooring. She got a Floor Mate last week and I'm waiting for her verdict in it. She's going to give me the steam mop for our new travel trailer, she says it will be fine for such a small area to clean.

I have deleted several things I was going to write, all revolving around... oh, no I still can't write that. Maybe Cathy and LindaC will know. Hope they check in. Thanks Fenworth for that heads up on carbon steel. My grandmother's knife does get rusty if left wet but it is easy to get the rust off with a regular kitchen scrubby. And I just remembered my most recent gadget, and this really qualifies as a gadget. Its a wood kitchen ruler with magnetic button for hanging on fridge, a hook for pulling out the oven rack and forked end for pushing rack back in. It was $2.50 at a cute little local cook store. However, my new fridge doesn't support magnets so I hang it on the access panel on my radiator cover :)!

I looooooooooove the excitement of learning new things, all stages of life. So fantastic! Wish I had been there to witness the astounding "wow" moment, Camp. There are so many beautiful things in life we have no idea about. Looking out my window has emphasized to me in my "old age" how much I don't know. The tide comes in and out, never the same levels from day to day. The unpredictable wind creates unique patterns that mix with the always shifting current. And the sky changes colors and clouds. It's amazing that one simple spot of water can never look the same, all because of things I used to think were so simple and explainable. Then, the wildlife is icing on the cake.

I saw those at W/S when I was looking for something else. Looks like it would come in handy for taking most of the pepper membrane out and all the seeds for when making salsa. I try to make an almost heat free salsa for a friend that doesn't like hot and I am sure this would work great.
