Comments (150)I-17 I hope everyone's day is going well (or at least better!) I had a fan-tab-u-lous day... got some errands done, both basil types and a tomato have sprouted, chatted with my new neighbors Rich and his wife (whose name I forgot) AND did some planting of last year's dahlias and a few of the goodies from my box! Did I say box? Heck yes I did! Mrs. Speedy-Gonz-Bunny had her DC# emailed to me before I had even finished passing out partners, and I must say SERIOUSLY outdid herself! Here is the list: Chocolates Lavender-Vanilla "pillow mist" Raspberry Sorbet reed diffuser 2 sampler packs of tea memo pad booklet Avon moisture therapy creme 2 coconut husk suet feeders Burt's Lip Balm (I'm a Burt's-a-holic!) 2 magazines titled "Garden Design" 2 very pretty yard stakes 4 colorful pot hangers a bamboo and metal windchime (hanging outside) baggies for seeds seeds- calendula, bunny tail grass, mexican sunflower, pansies, petunias & wildflower mix and last but not least... bulbs- freesia & triteleia queen fabiola (Planted them both!) I love it all, thank you so much! *Hugs and squishes back!* ~Laura...See Moreurinary blockage...leaking after
Comments (4)you probably have your question answered by now, but often feline bladders are distended so long during a blockage that they lose the ability to contract for a while after being emptied, and consciously voiding urine will be difficult. Often, for up to a week or more, their bladders will simply fill up to the point of being totally full again and (if all goes well) will empty gradually once they are full simply because there is no more room- resulting in an almost constant dribble of urine. Once the bladder recovers its muscle tone it will be able to empty itself more efficiently and the dribbling will usually stop....See Morecat living with perineal urethrostomy
Comments (3)Hill's Prescription Diet c/d and Royal Canin Control Formula are two brands of cat food that can help. Both are made in the USA. One of our cats had distress from crystals in the urine and we now alternate those two brands. She is back to normal, thank goodness. We get the wet food, which provides more moisture. Our vet recommended one of those little water fountains for cats too, which encourages them to drink more than they might normally do. I would try the dietary change and increase water intake first, and hope that surgery would not be necessary. Best of luck!...See MoreAdopting a kitten?
Comments (5)Your vet can tell you which tests you can reasonably expect the shelter to do. They probably test for feline lukemia (I've adopted tested and not tested). With the kittens not tested I kept them really separated until I could get them to the vet for the feline lukemia and feline AIDS tests. I don't know about the others, like the herpes. Call the shelter, they will tell you what they test for. However, their resources are so limited, and you can have additional tests once you get your kitten. I guess you can get a return clause, but I don't think I could return a kitten. I don't even shop at the Pet Smart anymore since DH will have a coronary if I bring in another homeless kitten. When I would go into the store I would have to stay away from the shelter adoption program as I would always leave in tears. We sponsor two cages at the adoption center, but it still breaks my heart. As for male/female - I have three male cats. I've seen one of the males spray outside. He has never done it in the house, in fact he and middle cat potty outside which suits me fine. The have a spot in the yard we call the big cat box since they always go to the same spot in the yard. The sprayer is the oldest cat, and he has had a urinary tract blockage twice to the tune of a lot of vet bills. I don't think females get that particular malady, but check with your vet or someone at the shelter. Pick out the kitty that you like best and then ask the sex. I think either sex would make you happy. I've had both male and female over the years and I think both are great. Best of luck and Happy Holidays!...See Moreharebelle
