I downloaded an update for Avast last week.

Now I have an unwanted tool bar from them.

I'd like to know how I can get rid of it.

Other tool bars you can unclick the check mark. It doesn't work on this one. It will stay away untill you open a new site then it's back.

All it has on it are four little green lines. But it just takes more space away from reading space on my screen.

If you are using a Windows-based PC, you should be able to use Control Panel, then Programs and Features. Find the program name related to the tool bar which will probably be something like Avast toolbar and uninstall. Or you may have to uninstall Avast, then re-install it excluding the toolbar option...usually a box that you have to uncheck during the installation.

Go to your home page and click on VIEW in the top row next to edit, then click on TOOLBAR and then unclick any you don't want. Easy peasy.

call your telephone people or internet server. They can walk you through it. Our phone company will send out their telephone guy and he'll help you. It is most likly an easy fix. Our server has a program that I use. The only mail I get is people I have on my "allways allow list" Otherwise it all goes into my "spam" folder. Then I check it for other email I want or just delete it. not sure if I explained it verywell but I'd first call your telephone co.

In theory, yes. In actuality, mostly no. From one brand and model to the next, most PCs operate at the same voltage, plus or minus a bit, and use mostly the same hardware inside purchased from the same suppliers, batteries included. What can vary in batteries is the physical size, location and type of connectors, storage capacity and hardware/software for communication and control. Batteries tend to be of custom size by brand and model to fit into the compartment available, Also, some brands do have proprietary battery firmware. Can you put a Ford engine into a Chevy? Sure, but the size, the connections and the management is going to take a lot of effort to get it to work. Cheaper and easier to put a Chevy engine into a Chevy. Same with batteries. For both PCs and phones, there are aftermarket batteries for some models that may fit and work. They don't tend to be of the same quality as an OEM part and frequently have less storage capacity (fewer mAh). You have to be careful when you order an extra battery from a third party seller, sometimes there's an obvious reason why what you're looking at is cheaper than what the manufacturer sells.

No you are not infected. Somehow you simply opened the log. It's just a file that logs the activity of background processes that keep your system running. It is helpful to tech support to access this list if your computer should develop a problem. Basically it's the entire history of your system. You can clean up the useless files but it basically a system that allows one to troubleshoot.

Maybe try hitting F11? Or maybe there's something in this video... I think if it were me and I needed to stick with Windows, instead of resetting to a no longer supported OS, I'd try upgrading to Windows 10 for free. Will it activate? I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not. How to get Windows 10 for free Personally though, being a Linux user, I'd download Linux, write the ISO to USB Flash, boot it up and install Linux. I use this one but there are many good ones. Linux wouldn't be much good for a gamer but for almost everyone else it would probably be fine. Especially coming on a free computer. :-)

The last Avast update to version 7 in some cases did offer the Chrome browser there is a screen that gives you the option to uncheck it so it is not included, is that what you are talking about? Do you have Chrome browser now and want to remove it?
It helps if you tell which version of windows you have so the proper directions can be given.
If it is XP go to control panel, add remove programs, find Chrome browser
in the list and select it choose to remove it.

It also installs a Chrome plugin to firefox so if that is what you are talking about go to the tools addons plugins and remove the Chrome plugin.
