Help...computer question...System Log Queries

Annie Deighnaugh

I just noticed this morning that my mac has a "System Log Queries" open that says I have 4,000 messages over the past day. The messages in it look like this:

I have never seen that before and have no idea if I'm infected or what.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Do I just ignore?

Apple has very active forums, that's the best place to go for information and help on any Apple product. If you don't have AppleCare coverage. If you do, then of course call Apple.

No you are not infected. Somehow you simply opened the log. It's just a file that logs the activity of background processes that keep your system running. It is helpful to tech support to access this list if your computer should develop a problem. Basically it's the entire history of your system. You can clean up the useless files but it basically a system that allows one to troubleshoot.

Thank you watchmelol! Good to know. As I looked at it, I thought that might be the case, but I have no idea why it suddenly opened up.
