I love DST, but I do drag that first few days of each season.

I just finish setting 10 clocks/watches. That's far too many clocks for someone that runs late all the time.

The atomic thermometer, two cell phones, computer, and iPods will set themselves. I never "fell back" with the car's dash clock last fall so it will be correct tomorrow. I have never set the TV or DVD player clocks.

This is a time consuming process since I try hard to set each clock to the exact time. It's a beautiful thing when all the times change at once.

1 German 'Bouncing Betty' clock in sewing room

I love my atomic clocks because I usually forget to set them.

I have an alarm in the bedroom, a clock in the bathroom, one in the kitchen, the time on the stove, and my watch.

My thermostat did itself, my phone didn't, my computer did.

Now, all that is left to do is the car, which will happen next time I get in it. :)

I love DST and wish they'd just leave it there year round! but I was already suffering from sleep deprivation so losing this hour hurts. lol! Every time I see a clock for the next few days I'll wonder if it's been properly set. :O)

It's way too soon, used to be that it was getting light at 5:30 and the birds were all singing their spring songs, THEN it seemed more logical to set the clocks ahead, so the birds didn't wake us up at 5:30. Now, it's 12 minutes to NINE and it's still dark and dreary here, grrrrr. Not logical. I have lamps on all over the house so I can see. Someone tell me how this is supposed to save us all on electricity? It's stupid!

I think the idea came during Truman's administration. Something to do with going to bed at sundown and getting up when it's light out, saves on electricity. I'm so glad I live in Arizona now, we don't do any changes. But I get confused as to what time it is in the east where there is still family. An hour or two earlier or later? who knows.

I blame Ben!!! I hate DST it's a stupid idea especially that springing forward stuff! Ok I think I might be awake now. :)

My car resets itself. The problem is, it's eight years old and computerized to the old daylight savings time. I'll be driving around for a couple of weeks thinking it's early and I can run a few more errands (spend more money as DH would say) when I should really be home making dinner.

I have two atomic clocks, but they are old so they change based on the old dates like Georgysmom's do. Consequently, I have turned the DST feature off and I set them manually. Then, there's the toaster oven that still works just fine except you cannot set the clock. I have to unplug it, then plug it back in at exactly 12:00...LOL!

Try Indiana, the most screwed up CST/EST/DST state ever. Which county has what? I love longer days, and later sunsets at the beach.

true atomic clocks actually get the signal from a satellite so will always have the correct time. The older models that were also called atomic are not linked to a satellite they are pre- programed to the dates set up for the time change which is why they are now changing at the wrong times. My husband's alarm clock is that way. My alarm clock is a true atomic and catches the signal.
Our 2 big ones in the living room have the outdoor sensors so we have outdoor temp as well as indoor and they have the satellite sensors we put them near the window last night and they changed from 1:59 to 3:00 first time I saw it actually happen on them and my tablet since I was still up.
All the electronics made the change just fine.
I just have to remember the car.

It generally takes about 3 days to get used to the time changes. And with the hour less sleep, studies show that there are more accidents Monday morning.

I set my watches as I wear them, and had most the clocks changed last nite. The day sure went fast today, but I was also busy.

DST is so farmers can work longer with more daylight, but that was obviously before the tractors had lights!!! Now they work on the fields harvesting until midnight.
It's often too wet with dew for them to get out on the fields early.

Jasdip, you gave me a chuckle. Daylight savings time has nothing to do with farmers and has no unique effect on them.

There's an old story (I don't know if it's true) concerning time zones. Alabama is in the Central zone, Georgia has Eastern time. The one hour difference leads to confusion, especially since Atlanta has long been the commercial center for that part of the US and many Alabamans have occasion to deal with or travel to Atlanta.

A bill was introduced in the Alabama legislature to switch the state to Eastern Time. It was defeated by efforts of the farm lobby, who warned that farm income and crop output would plummet, since moving the clocks ahead one hour would reduce each day's sunlight.

There was a story on the news yesterday about dst and it basically said there are certain industries that profit from later daylight hours, starting with the gas companies because people drive more when it's light. There were more which I don't recall at the moment, but this was generally behind the push to start dst early and end it later a couple of years ago. Always there is money as the motivator!
