Just an update. I did alot of calling, searching and pricing...I ended up ordering a Jacuzzi Duetta airbath from faucet direct.com. It was significantly cheaper than if I had bought at the local store with the GC's discount. Faucet direct had them 5% off plus no shipping or taxes. I found the same tub at Quality bath marked 6% off so I asked Faucet Direct if they would match the price and they did. The tub is 66 X 36 and will be about 20 inches deep. It even has chromatherapy, which I think is just two Led lights in the tub, but I thought that would be nice :-) The model is jacuzzi DUE6636 ACR 4CX. One main reason I choose this one is because it has such a low profile deck trim. It's only going to stick up 1/2 inch from the tub deck if mounted as a drop in. I was really wanting to undermount the tub in this new bathroom, but we can save some money tiling the tub deck instead of putting in a solid surface tub deck. I got the little curved pillow also and the tub overflow in brushed nickel. :-)

Wow, thanks bumble doodle! Tt is great to know that the tub works well as a shower. We are tall too--at least most of us (two of my teenage daughters are twins and one is 5'2" and the other is 5'10", so maybe the short one complains a bit but that's ok, since she complains about everything!) We are getting the non-jetted version. Also, I am hoping that building the deck at the front will help with the water spray. I am pushing the tub back into an alcove under the window the long way (so we get into the tub at the 32" side rather than from the 48" side) and we are trying to go without shower doors in order to make the bath feel open. With a deck, we buy a few more inches of length to help avoid water on the floor. We may not succeed and will put a panel on if we have to. Any thoughts on this?

Wanted to say thanks to all who posted here and raised other perspectives, offered suggestions and in general made me think about things I probably had not thought of before. Very helpful and very appreciated. I managed to go out and see some empty tubs today but even that helped me see some things. At this point I am going to visit with my contractor to see if there is any reasonable way to fit a 66 inch tub into the bathroom. I am 6 ft 1 and while I can fit inside the 60 inch it is an easier fit to go one size up. Sometimes seeing is helpful! My list is now fairly short: Kohler Underscore Aquatic Serenity 35 Mirabelle Edenton 36x66 or 36x60 I had thought about the MTI Andrea 11 but pricing there starts to climb rapidly and there just comes a point where I have to say "enough". If I spent 60 minutes every day in the tub an in line heater, arm rests etc might be a good idea. One thing about the Serenity that was good to see is how high and wide the borde rof tub is. Definitely will require a long reaching faucet and I wonder if climbing out an dover will be difficult (tub I saw today was not yet set up in its box) The Aquatic certainly looked ok. As did the Mirabelle (lowest price option). I did not see the Edenton but one similar. Overall I am probably somewhat partial to the Kohler underscore "look" but then it wa salso undermounted. I do prefer an under mount appearance but not sure I want to go there. Seems more involved for the installation. I also need to see what the 240V aspects will cost for the install (not sure I have space in breaker box). Still deciding but the list is very much smaller now! Water depth on all of these tubs is more than deep enough.. 17.5 to almost 19 inches to overflow.

Gee, sorry this happened! You should be OK as long as moisture does not linger inside walls and floors. That creates mold. But you're there and getting it dried out so you should be fine.Does the tub have an overflow outlet? It should! Maybe it was overwhelmed with the volume. Make sure it is working or install one if there isn't one. The gas logs (or any other heat source) do not actually dry out the air. What happens in winter is that very cold air, which may already be dry, enters the house and as it is warmed up, its relative humidity drops even more, creating very low humidity inside the house. No particular type of heating is better or worse on this. If your house did not leak any air and was perfectly sealed, it would get steamy due to people inside and steamy showers, cooking etc. It doesn't because it leaks - cold dry air comes in, warm air leaks out. Actually, to help dry things out, if it is dry outside (not rainy) you might want to open a window just a crack to let in some of that air to help speed the drying. And move air around using fans in the wet areas. Wet materials will dry faster with air blowing on them.
