American Idol Top 12

A few surprises tonight and a big disappointment with the last girl chosen to go home. This is the first year I haven't agreed with the top 12 picks.

Don't want to post results here yet in case some KTers haven't watched the show yet.

Anybody else disappointed?

Yes - I just said as much in another thread....

.... Doesn't the top 12 usually tour together, and make an album? That is one I WON'T be buying.

Actually, I think only the top TEN do......when they eliminate one more boy and one more girl, they will be the ones who do the summer tour. The top 12 is just when they start having both boys and girls in the same show.

I don't think it's by popular vote anymore. I think the producers pick a well-rounded group to include all races, different styles of music and someone that will appeal to the teeny boppers who bring in money with their text votes and consume their sponsor's products. (As it should be, when you think about it)

We've not enjoyed the show on tv so much in ages, made me think once again how great it'd be to have more entertaining and little less competition, to bring best of Idols and have some extra fun for everyone. No matter, all are winners, except me and especially my daughter, will be listening to Katherine and my younger daughter to Chris (her forever Idol). I think Taylor got the votes for being a friendly country guy -if the show was about congeniality he'd get my votes, he had fun and made us join in the fun, appearing more self-confident- a few years older helps, even if he was at times comical with his dances-we can all use more fun. It reminded us of the times when the "She Bangs" guy was picked as the winner on line, lol. We're fine with the fact Katherine took the 2nd place- it's almost or as grand as the top. My comment about JL crying gig was only a guess...don't take it so serious. It could be a drama session for ratings believe me most of those shows are scripted and filmed by a director who picks certain video shots, such as, on Amazing Race, Survivor, etc......Do you really think all these shows are the real thing??? Please!!!! As for the young fellow who was helping his girlfriend...I felt for him but, there were many others who hardship stories too. I thought this was a singing contestant not This is your life. I think JL still looked beautiful even when she was crying...she kept her head down and blotted her tears. I hope I am wrong but .....I wonder!!!!

I started watching again this year. Honestly, when Fantasia won that year, I quit watching. What a travesty that was. Anyhow.......I really like the line up of judges. Harry Connick does tell it like it is. I loved it when he said, you gotta lay off the runs, especially when you're bad at them. I got soooo sick of the "'screaming" that they called singing...and the runs....ugh, stick a fork in my eye. I would much prefer to hear a singer hit a big note at the end, and hold it. I think that's much harder than those extremely overused runs. I don't think Malaya should have made it through. I picked every single guy right. I think the tall girl, with the gap in her teeth should have made it over Malaya. Caleb is my fav guy to win. The girls, hmmmm, I like Jena and MK.

my top fave guy is still Casey Abrams love the red hair and that Jennifer said he was sexy. He said he was out to prove guys that look like him can be sexy. I think he is very cute and that voice is awesome very talented guy. I actually was with the judges in shedding a tear when Jacob Lusk sang he is one of those wow singers. Scotty he will be a country music star no matter what happens on Idol. james Durbin kicked it in gear. He is going to be the rocker for sure. Paul McDonald loved his rendition of Maggie Mae, so quirky in voice and movement but very appealing. I think the definite go home was Jordan Dorsey and he thinks so highly of himself too, after making every one audition just to be in his group that group night, I knew he was going to be a fail. Love the judges, they are doing a great job.

I can't believe Lilly was cut. That little girl who stayed is nowhere near her calliber.

This year seems to me to be very slim pickings; not an idol in sight, imo.....
except for the big guy whose wife had a baby while he was auditioning.
He sings with heart and soul ; let's just name him the Idol and be done
with it, lol....
