I was the breeder who posted a while ago. Well, I've been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and we lovingly re-homed all of our babies to GOOD homes (I didn't just give them to anyone and certainly wasn't putting them in a shelter!) except our therapy/service dog Max (Our Golden Retriever we got for our Autistic Son!) My problem is his buddy is gone (who we tried to get back from the rescue he went to 2 days later and they refused to return him to us, My kids want me to activate his chip (AKC) because we believe the rescue sold him which is why they wouldn't return him.. it's a long story) a Shiba Inu who was agressive at feeding time, but Max would eat. Our Shiba's been gone about 2.5/3wks now and it's a fight getting him to eat! Nothing's changed except he's the only dog now, he's definitely lost weight.. I've been keeping up with Frontline/Heartguard so I don't believe it could be heart worm, no extra treats to make him full, except his NuVet Vitamin! He's eaten here and there (in fact he stole my SHRIMP and gulfed it down, but wouldn't eat his kibble (wet or dry he's always eaten!))

Is he just missing his buddy? Is he looking for his approval still to eat? We've tried everything (including our leftovers with his kibble mixed in!) He drinks up a storm, he's peeing a storm and has 3 stools a day that have to come from SOMEWHERE! I'm just lost as to what to do, I never in all my years had a Dog who wouldn't eat (we feed whole earth and switch to Before Grain when they're adults and switch up the flavors!) and he ALWAYS had a voracious appetite.

We're ALL worried about our furry baby, vet said no worms, stool normal, he's normal size he'll be OK but how can he just stay away from SO many meals

Im so sorry to hear about your tumor being inoperable...my thoughts are with you.
As far as your dog not eating, it could be a number of possibilities. Is he getting food elsewhere? Is it possible he is reacting to your condition and not just the loss of his buddies? It could be the loss of his buddies...It could be the food you got turned bad...
Most of my dogs have not been food oriented which means getting a big bag of rice, some hamburger and chicken from costco and some canned dog food from Trader Joes. I also bought Natural Balance duck and potato meat sticks which is a huge hit with every dog I know. My dog taught my friends dogs to not eat it until it was completely dried out - like jerky - weird....Good luck with your pup, if the vet says it is not physical then maybe a trip to the dog park or even just fostering a dog for a hort time might help....Good luck in whatever you do. My best to you and yours.

67 here, 20% chance of rain. Yes, we had hard rain last night too and I wasn't sure I'd be able to mow this afternoon but I did. Grass wasn't too bad, I've been keeping it cut short so it had dried out fairly well. Suddenly the spinach and lettuce in the garden have all sprouted at once it seems. Because I planted late I thought for sure it would take longer but just that bit of sun the last couple of days helped alot. Will be leaving in a few minutes for downtown to shop for a few groceries. Cats were sure glad it's payday today, they were out of dry food as of yesterday. Both were waiting on the porch when I got home with it. The pet health store where I shop gave me a free bag of kitty litter because of some promotion. My older cat of 14yr., who's never used a litter box in his life (outside/inside guy), has developed incontinent issues during nights he's in the house; so we're working on using the box. pattie43 you're busy today! Ugh, did that not too long ago and glad it's over. I need to schedule a bone density test one of these days too.

Good morning Sue! Just went to the doctor to have them x-ray my foot. Was working yesterday and it was really painful, swelling all the way up my calf. The PA I saw today said she didn't see any fractures but the radiologist still needed to see them. It's been hurting/swelling on and off for over a month now so I'm hoping it's nothing more than overuse. It's supposed to storm later this afternoon and is already clouding up. I'm so done with the rain. Going to return the cat trap I borrowed from animal control today since it was totally useless in trying to capture our groundhog. He's starting to tick me off because he's eating my bean plants and nasturtiums. I'm going to buy some plastic forks today and put them tine-up around all my plants today or tomorrow. Have to clean the house, make a bunch of calls and start packing for our trip. Just 12 more days to go! Have to buy some new tennis shoes for Alex from Zappos this morning too, he melted the new ones I just bought him about a month ago at his dad's. Arghghghh! I don't know how one shoe got so hot in their dryer and the other didn't, but the whole end of it is melted in and deformed. Good thing Zappos is fast. Also have to mail a few things out, shoe return for me so I have to find the nearest UPS office and run by the post office. Hope you all have a good day and we don't get really bad storms this afternoon, they're saying possible high winds and tornadoes.

Oak Ridge Boys!! OMG, they are old!! Don't stop posting. I know how it is on this Forum, but we need all the help we can get. If for no other reason, it's good to know someone else is out there. I know that I spend entirely too much time here in the evenings, so I've been trying to take care of some things I need to do besides sit here and read ALL the posts of the day - and ones' I've missed over the past few days. But when I come here it brings a smile to see a few familiar faces. I'll try to do my part to keep it up too. Not much else is going on for me. I know the weather is going to be fantabulously beautiful this weekend. Hopefully I can get out in the yard. We've had rain lately so the grass is really nice, especially since the guy that cuts it finally realized that zoiza needs to be cut short the first time - YIPPEEEEEE! Now if I can only keep up with the weeds. The only other really exciting thing - which really isn't good, is that unfortunately, there is a budding Meaasles pandimonium going on here. I MAY have had a very mild case, but the Dr. said No. It haunts me though, every time I see pics on the news of victims. They look like I looked a couple of weeks ago. Dr. said it was an allergy to antibiotic. I don't think so though because it was so long after having started, and I've gone into shock before with another type. Hopefully it wasn't Measles, but I know I was pretty sick for about a week. I hope it doesn't spread to many others around here - you really don't feel good with Measles, and it can be deadly. Now, on to the bigger message - everyone else here, check in. Lurking is good but it would be nice to chat every once in a while. Night all gneegirl

I just put a few baking potatoes in my portable oven on the porch, even though it is cool here and only expect to get into the seventies by noon. Then threw in a load of whites between KT posts and now am about to walk around the block (1 mile). I'm going to use the potatoes for potato skins (ya know, baked again with cheese & add sour cream and bacon pieces later) and use the potato pulp for baked potato soup. So that means I got to start frying some bacon for the soup when I get back from my walk. Half of the bacon I'll use for the calico beans that I'm making for Fourth of July pot luck. Have some phone calls to make this afternoon. Big day for hubby. He is signing legal documents later on today to sell his business that he built for the last 30 years. We will be getting payments and not drawing from his retirement accounts for several more years. But in essence he will be retired at age 53. A lot of our friends are surprised that he can do this but I'm not; it's been in the plans for decades. Slow and steady wins the race!

Cutencuddly, very sorry to hear about your diagnosis :(

My father in law had an inoperable brain tumor that was rather successfully treated with radiation (gamma knife?) His was a slow growing tumor...5 years later, he is doing great.

My husband, 33, had a brain tumor (4cm x 5cm x 6cm) removed beginning of this year and so far doing well. His was Grade II.

I wish you the best of luck and lots of strength. There has been a lot of good progress in medicine and tumor treatment, and there is a lot of hope. I will keep you in my thoughts!

Thanks everyone for the positive thoughts, I recently learned about the gamma knife (huge doses of radiation rather than s true knife!) and they're preparing me for this as I'm only 34.5 w/ 4 small kids (11 boy, 10 girl, 7 boy, 5 3/4 girl) & it's not completely covered by our plan but we'll just have to make the pre arranged (it isn't cheap but my life is worth it!!!)

Food for our now 10mo old GR isn't "bad" (he's starting to eat in little spurts during the day so we leave it out) he likes trash UGH but I/We keep him away from it! We do feed w/kibble our leftovers he can eat, from time to time he enjoys! He's drinking plenty, and he weighs about 60lbs (he's NOT overweight @ all!) so I guess we'll just keep this for now!

Thanks again for your prayers, it's a grade 3/4 but they say slow growing! I WILL OVERCOME!!!!
