What do you take?

This time of year we are invited to so many parties and many of them say "main course will be provided; please bring a dessert, salad, or hors d'oeuvre". I do not do a lot of holiday baking, so don't have a stash of cookies etc. on hand. I work full-time and sometimes these parties are during the week, so the only chance I have to cook is the night before. Often too, it may be at a location (work) where there is only a microwave available for reheating or, as in the case of tomorrow's party, I know that the hostess will have her oven and stovetop full so I don't want to have to reheat at her house.

So, what fall-backs do you all have for these occassions? I want something that can be prepared with relatively little effort and can be transported easily to a party and not require reheating. Is that too much to ask?

Thanks for the help!

Ann
