Nasal irrigation - video

Just in case you missed this I am reposting. You can use almost anything not just a netti pot. A bulb syringe, a nasal wash cup or a paper cup will do. It doesn't hurt or sting. Great for sinus infections.

Cool Video. I use a sinus wash thing I got from Walgreens. I think Neilmed is the brand. It really helps for allergies or sinus infection season like right now to keep germs and allergens rinsed out. My wife thinks it is the grossest thing ever. It also helps when my nose dries out in winter to help prevent nose bleeds. Be sure to use the salt in the water regular water tends to burn or sting. At least it does me. The saline water is soothing.

It would be even better if the audio was fixed so it was understandable. More importantly it would be nice not to have to sit through the commercials. Especially the long advertisement for the local cable TV provider. Surely there is a less commercial source for this info? Dave

MileHigh, I assume you were having troubles with the weep everywhere hose; if so you might want to check out the preformed "soaker hose" which the drip irrigation places sell. This is different than the hoses of the same name at the big box stores which weep over their entire surface. They are solid PE hose with an emitter installed at regular intervals (1' up to 3'). The emitters are pressure compensating, so you can vary the elevation of the hose and still get even coverage. I have found that this type of drip and the T-tape type works much better than the big box weeps everywhere stuff. (you will need a filter and pressure regulator with these emitter hoses) Regardless of what type of emitters/hose, you will need to calculate the flow and pressure of the hose or other water source feeding the system. You need to be sure you can feed the system with the flow it needs at the pressure it requires. Simple math if you are using the drip emitters but for the weep everywhere hoses you probably need a pressure gauge in the system that you can read to figure out how much length your source can support.

One thing that everyone can begin looking at is this: Biofilms. Biofilms are these gnarly, sticky mats of congealed mucus where candida, bacteria, and other pathogens hide out. If you have reoccurring infections or infections that simply will not go away, then you likely have a biofilm in the infected area. Candida behaves much like a biofilm in this it is systemic and can spread all throughout your body. In order to get rid of biofilms in your nasal pasageways you need to be ready to go to war. The latest remedy, which people are swearing by that works, involves baby shampoo of all things. It's a 'surfactant' I believe is the word. And you use it in nasal irrigation: 1/2 table spoon of it in water, mix it with a neilmed rinse kit, use the saline packet that comes with it, and follow the normal directions. You can follow it with an allicin rinse as well. Allicin is the extract from garlic and has been shown to help breakdown and eliminate biofilms. You basically break open and pour one capsule (do not use the empty capsule) into the mix, add the saline packet, and use as directed. I believe that's it. In the meantime you'll want to think about fortifying your body from biofilms and candida (candida infections can be denoted by fungus growth in toenails, thrush on your tongue and throat, sinus infections, chronic fatigue, depression, dark circles under eyes, and many more). Grapefruit seed extract is really good for this. Buy somme Nutribiotics Grapeseed extract and pour a few drops in water in the AM and PM and drink it down. Also, any kind of citrus fruit extracts you can add to it. Agrisept L could be one of the greatest products of all time for breaking down biofilms in the body. This is just about an all in one anti fungul, bacteria, candida (yeast), and more. Yea, I used mine today, was soooo congested. My allergies have been kicking up. I can't use it all the time, cause of my HBP and I have to control my sodium intake, just kinda wonder how much gets absorbed in my sinus's. Got to ask the Dr. next time I go in. I don't want to use a whole days allotment with a neti pot! hahahahahah I can only have 2,000mg a day, that is less than 1 tsp, in allllllll my foods. Nothing added, just what is there normally. sigh

I have been doing this for about a year. I use one of the medicine syringes that we got for the girls. It makes such a difference. I also use saline nasal spray on the girls and Hayden when they get congested it really makes a difference in their breathing when they get congested. Rhiannon actually likes to do it:) When my head feels like it is going to explode it is the only thing that works.

I only use less than a eighth of a teaspoon of salt in a cup of water when I use it. One thing that might help is using sea salt which is saltier if that makes since, a tsp of table salt in taste equals much less in sea salt

I've got something trying to get me again...I usually never ever have colds...never the flu...this year my sinuses have just been having a war with me...

I saw your post and the video...I used to have one of those syringes...but couldn't bring myself to use it over and over...because I couldn't see inside of it...and my imagination worked over time...yuck...so I threw it away..

Tonight I used a baggie Use two...I KNOW it has to be less messy....lol

I mixed up the two cups and the salt. then put one cup in the bag and cut a small hole in one corner. that way you can squeeze out all the air and slowly push the water into your nostril. But....don't....try refilling that bag while trying to hold the hole shut and zipping it closed..gets messy..."S"

But now I feel a little clogged, before it was dripping and giving me throat tickle...I think it might have my ears plugged. Or it is up in my sinuses...

Sure hope it does something "GOOD"...
