My cell phone tells me what city & state the call is from. If the person calling me is in my "phone book" in my phone, their name shows up also.

I love the speakerphone on the handset. I can have a conversation and play puter at the same time.

Another feature I love is Call Waiting ID - if I'm on the phone and someone calls in, it tells me who is calling (rather than just a beep like a lot of phones).

I also love the intercom. If Stan and I are on different levels or different ends of the house, we just call each other on the intercom.

Every time someone calls me, if I even think I might talk to them again, I put their name and number into my cell phone. Also, all the restaurants and businesses that I use. So, when I get a call...not only does the number show up, but also the name.

My phone is a very basic one. It doesn't do anything fancy. I hate talking on the phone most of the time, and just use it when I have to, or to talk to my husband when he is working away from home.

My caller ID shows up on my TV screen. Not sure how that works. But I like knowing who is calling and from where.

I like having the caller ID, and mine also shows up on the TV screen, if it is on, of course. It's all in a "bundle", computer, TV, and phone, and costs way too much!!

I love caller ID. Screen all my calls. If I don't know who is calling, I let the answering machine pick up first. If you're not willing to leave a message, I don't need to talk to you. I like call waiting also. Generally I won't interrupt a phone call unless I think it's something important and then I'll tell the person I'm talking to that I need to take the incoming call and will call the other caller back. Mine comes up on the T.V. screen also......love that, too!

We love our caller i.d. and call waiting i.d., if we are waiting for an important call it is nice to have.

Call me old fashioned, but I don't have anything but basic phone on my land line. I kind of like that. Makes it easy, on thinking of answering a person or not. :)

My land line has three phones, and the thing I like most is that I can call my other phone when it goes missing.

I don't have caller ID or anything extra except for the answering machine.

I haven't had a telemarketer call in ages, or a wrong number call.

Did I mention I don't even have a cell phone?

I long awaited the day that Caller ID finally became available in my area and I signed up quick and have had it ever since. I wouldn't have Call Waiting. That is SO annoying. When people pull that crap on me that they have to answer "the other line" I just say obviously that one is more important to you than I am so I'll talk to you later.

I have as basic phone service as I can get and add Caller ID. They keep trying to get me to bundle things and I say no. Haven't found anything I want. Call waiting CID? Why? Don't and won't have Call Waiting. And they push call waiting. See previous. Speed dialing. Have it on the phone and computer. Voicemail. Have an answering machine.

I don't get as "hung up" on phones as many people seem to. I find them obnoxious overall. If a customer, client or whatever came and demanded attention like a phone does what would you think? And I NEVER run to answer a phone! I tell people if it's important and I don't answer right away, try calling back. I might not be next to the phone.

It got to the point that I cut out virtually all junk calls so I thought about dropping the CID but kept it and it is nice to have to look at instead of listening to all the messages. I can look at who called and if I was expecting the call I can call them back first.

And I never answer blocked calls. Period.

I have three way calling and really like that. I can talk to 2 of my daughters at the same time.

I have Comcast and LOVE their new feature which shows me who is calling on my tv screen. A little window pops up on the screen as soon as the phone rings. My phone also has a feature that announces who is calling. Now I don't have to deal with telemarketers, political or other annoying phone calls.

The TV thing is cracking me up. I've never heard of that option!

But I always look at the caller ID and only answer to people I know. Well, if I want to talk with them. Sometimes I'm not in the mood.

As I said, I don't have Caller ID, but there is something I have wondered about.

For instance, some of you have said that if a number shows up and you don't know that number, you don't answer.

Suppose someone in your family happened to be in an emergency situation and is not for whatever reason able to make a call to you. A bystander, for instance, has found your number among that persons belongings; they call you on their phone, to let you know, but you don't recognize the number so you don't answer.

My answering machine is my caller ID. If someone wants to speak with me they have to give their name or the purpose of the call to the machine first. If a message is left with a number but without full identity of the caller I hit the delete button. I don't buy stuff on the phone, I don't do charity by phone and I don't give interviews or do surveys either. I also don't decide who/what to vote for by phone. The phone is for my convenience not everyone else unless they are invited.

My cell phone is for people I know. All unknown numbers are ignored. If it is important or from someone not on my contact list then that is what voice mail is for.

I don't understand people who feel compelled to answer the phone every time it rings. Do they open their doors to anyone who comes along also?

We have the cable bundle and love it, but if someone is calling from a cell phone, it just shows (state) call and the number - drives me crazy because I don't memorize cell numbers.........Land line calls show caller's name.

Basic land line and that was all, as I don't plan to pay the phone co. $3.00 or so per month to find out who'd calling. Except that I've had an answering machine a fair percentage of the time, which I find djhelpful ... and my son and some friends like it, so that they can leave messages when I'm away. Or call at odd hours, when the phone is busy much ofthe time due to my using the internet.

Simple, if it was important, they'd leave a message wouldn't they? I can't imagine someone not leaving a message in such a case. I normally listen to the message if I'm nearby.

What if they called when I was at the mailbox getting the mail? Or mowing the lawn? Or at the grocery store, or work? Or sleeping? Or had fallen and can't get up! :)

I forgot to mention I use PhoneTrayFree on my computer which puts the CID on the computer screen and does a voice announce of the caller and number. Nice program. Can use it to block calls if you get a number that is junk and it gives a record of calls which I've found to be surprisingly handy.

Does anybody else find it rude when you make the effort to go see someone to have them constantly running to the phone and chatting with people? I've thought about using my cell and calling them while I sit there and say apparently this is the only way to talk to you uninterrupted! I too cannot understand those who can't let a phone go unanswered but at least show some courtesy and say I'm with someone, call me later or I'll call you.
