Oops. I'm only just seeing this. The paint color is Benjamin Moore's Smoke. I use Aura paint, which is full spectrum. I think colors look great with full spectrum paint. :) The dining room is more of a nook in an open condo. The left side is where the front door and coat closet are. The right side is where you enter the kitchen (there is a bar there, too). Most of my neighbors have a tiny table and two chairs in the space, but one uses it for a desk...it's really a pass through. The chairs were custom made. They were an insane splurge about three years ago, before those chairs were everywhere. My options were a Ballard Designs chair that I didn't feel comfortable buying sight unseen, and similar chairs by Bernhardt, Z Gallerie, and Baker. I had a picture of the fabric I wanted in my head (cream, geometric stitching with a slight sheen), so I wound up having the chairs made. It wasn't any more expensive than the Bernhardt chairs would have been. You can see more of my place on my blog. Just click my username. There's a show stopper in the living room. sueb20 sorry yes I do mean having the same color mixed. I am starting to lean towards doing just that if I don't find a pair that will work with Wheeling Neutral. The reason I am hesitant on doing that is because I have read that mixing the same color gives no contrast and looks bland. I am sorta afraid of that. Since I have never tried it. That is exactly what I thought Annie. That is why it is so difficult for me to pick a lighter color for my ceilings. So many colors to choose from with different undertones, warm/cool. Makes it difficult for a non pro like me to figure out the prefect pair to go with Wheeling Neutral. lukkiirish nope I have never tried that. For some reason I have always thought that anything that goes above needs to be lighter. Here are some ideas of what I am trying to achieve though.. I am afraid of it being yellowish. Is the undertone yellow or am I seeing things? Would it pair well with Wheeling Neutral? I am willing to overlook the yellowish cast if it will work well with wall color. I do have some burnt orange/reds in my room I am afraid yellow might clash with the red.

Thanks for the input...we originally wanted to bring the green in to add a "splash of color" and some "interest" to the kitchen, but the reason for posting this thread, is that something does not seem right to me. What if we went with Spiced Vinegar (the main color) throughout the kitchen but painted green aroudn teh pantry area? I guess we are trying to do something different so that we are not "neutral boring"...??? But maybe we are forcing things and need to stay more conservative?

Several of the above descriptions are precisely what I did. I used the art and my Oriental rugs as the starting point. My wood work and trims are the same color in the whole downstairs. I consider the trim and doorways to be picture frames for the rooms. I also have an old home...1890. The doorways are large and you can stand in one area and see into the next rooms. I have 12 ft ceilings which also allows for more vibrant use of color and wide trims. All flows and all contents of the rooms can be moved/swapped into an adjacent room with no break in the color/design concept that I originally initiated 10 yrs ago. I have swapped the DR and morning room and it works very well due to the cohesive color scheme. My walls were painted 10 yrs ago and 6 yrs ago ( different rooms) I have never tired of the rich tones...navy, chocolate,thyme green, terra--cotta in multiple tones and a 3 tone yellow for the entry way and music room. Everything is tied together with the art work and rugs and the wood floors. I will link to my album and you can view the areas if you wish.
