Thanks for the advice. We went out and bought about 1300 sq feet for $230 of KBG/rye mix. I rented a uhaul 6x12 open trailer at 4:30p, loaded up the wife and baby, dropped baby at grandparents, drove an hour to the sod farm, loaded up (overloaded) the trailer, fishtailed like CRAZY at 48mph and thought I was going to lose my bumper and the trailer. Laid it all by 9pm. Ugh. New post coming about how to ensure it survives.

I've read all the information about growing "named" Adenium from seed, and even e-mailed a supplier who told me that the seeds will breed true-to-type because the flower crosses are "hand pollinated". The last link was very informative. I personally think the "true-to-type" claim by some seed sellers, is a big crock! But what alternative do I have, -other than growing selected seeds- if I want to grow a special variety? I can't find any growers in the US with imported plants, and the grafted plants are ugly, and very obviously joined. I guess I'll have to take my chances on growing from seed...a long, labor-intensive, and ANNOYING undertaking...and, for maybe nothing but scrap-heap plants. At least the seeds are cheap. If it helps the refrigerator pickles we made last fall are still good. We made up several jars following a recipe that was rather sweet. We have about 1/4 of the last jar left. I was rather surprised how good they still were when I found one more jar of them a few weeks ago tucked back behind the molasses.
