Your not alone! Happens to me everytime!

I am lucky to have a friend that LOVES to cut hair. I don't use her all the time. She gives the bestest! Of course, I treat her.

Being as I am now a snowball, my hair has a tendency to do what IT wants to do.

My hairdresser for 10 years just up and went away, and I've never found anyone like him.

I just usually cut my own. No one else to get mad at. :)

But, sometimes I don't like my own cuts either... and I have the tendency to procrastinate getting it done.

No, not just you. It's hard to get someone to actually listen to what you want. I got my hair cut last week and finally got a great cut. She will probably disappear now and I'll never see her again. LOL Story of my life.

No it's not just you...I have found when it comes to haircuts,,,it is my experience, that you get what you pay for unfortunately...So I pay 90.00 for a haircut...outrageous you may say...but you know what, from the day I get that cut to my next appt. 7 or 8 weeks later...I never have to worry how my hair is going to look because it is cut beautifully. It is short.. but always looks good.

That's what I did last year but I dragged
the lady into the hair salon and asked if they could do my hair that way They did and I loved it!!

I'm with Moni on this one I cut my own, I've had a cruddy hair cut nearly every time I've had somebody else do it so I just give in and cut on mine until I like it.

I keep getting the same haircut-shoulder length, with layers, tapered across my cheeks, and with light bangs. I'm so bored. And I can never blow-dry it as well as the pros.

I was in the same boat until I finally bit the bullet last Oct. and went to a higher end salon. $50 a cut but what a difference! And she's already planning on what she's going to do for my "summer" look. I can't wait! I'd much rather spend more and be happy every time.

I don't know if I've had a decent haircut in years. I would give more for a cut if there was a great shop near me but I live in a small rural area. The GOOD people don't come here and my hair grows so fast I would be going to the city every three weeks. Wish I went to beauty school when I was young. At least I could tell them what I want.

add me to the list..i just trimmed my own hair in the front minutes ago...thank goodness my hair grows pretty fast or i'd go nutz!

my major problem is one side is always shorter/longer than the other...the last time i got a great cut was 2000, for ds1 wedding...the gal quit to go to work in the casinos...i wear it fairly short, so it shows, as you say, the minute i do it...

I'd pay just about anything for a good cut. My hair's thin and fine and an undercut is about the only thing that makes it look thicker. I'm not even sure they have higher end salons here--or how to find out. Any suggestions? I know price doesn't always give you value, but I'd sure try. Paid $35 for the last one and it sucks!

Maybe I'll just tell them the same thing as kurmudgeon!

I have threatened many times lately to do just what kurmudgeon does! I went to WallyWorld this afternoon with intentions of getting a hair cut.There's one girl there that does a fair job.At least I can come home and touch it up myself if needed.Too many people ahead of me and they don't take appointments anymore.I have always either cut it myself (can't anymore because I can't hold my arms up that long) or had my cousin cut it (not a beautician but should be) or DD would cut it.I can never get together with cousin and DD can't anymore because of arthritis in her hands.I found a girl in OK last summer that did an excellent job but I don't want to drive 5 hours for a hair cut!LOL Maybe I'll just let it grow out and wear it in a bun like the old grey haired lady that I am!LOL

I won't have to worry about the dreaded haircut problem for about a year or so (chemo, probably more radiation) LOL! After years of getting cruddy haircuts on my very overly thick, dry , ultra-curly hair, I gave up and just trimmed the ends every few weeks. I'm kind of excited to eventually find out how my "new" hair will grow back. Hope it's not curlier than before! If it is white, I will definitely color it. Been coloring it for years and don't plan to stop now!

I'm having the same problems. I had the same Friend do my hair for over 35 years. Well she has come down with the dreaded disease and can no longer take care of me. I sure miss her. I have one now that is nice but its not the same.

It sure is good to see I'm not alone. I swear it's harder to find a good hair stylist than it is a good doctor.

I still haven't gotten up the nerve to call and make an appointment--tomorrow for sure. We have no big plans for one month, so it'll have some time to grow out if it's awful. ;-)

I refuse to pay big bucks for a haircut, even if I could afford it. I've been "training" the ladies at the local cheapo shop for the last six years (the ladies seem to stick around for a long time) and usually get a good, not great, cut. When I was feeling prosperous a few years ago, I went to a "higher end" salon regularly..and was never happy with the cut! The stylist gave me what HE thought would look good..and it never did.

These days I am very specific, and will argue with the current person cutting my hair, and will fuss until it looks right. I really get my $8 worth..and they get a healthy tip for finally listening to me.

I, too, have finally settled into the idea that when it comes to a good hair cut, you do get what you pay for - this is my truth. It makes me mad, but I'm resigned.

I have also found that the same person will give me a great cut (how well it grows out determines how good the cut was) for about a year, then she will mess it all up twice and I'm on the hunt for another stylist. In this area, there are a bunch of them, so I'm lucky in that area.

I tip very well. Which is another thing that bugs me, those who are renting their space (better stylists do) set their own prices and work for themselves charge the earth already - but still expect the big tip. I want a great cut so I pay my dues and tip very well. It keeps them happy when the sissors hit their hands.

But I have my own little revenge - I color my own hair! I learned how to do it and I get great satisfaction out of keeping that money and doing it myself for about $10 in product.

I understand completely. Someone plays tricks on me. Someone, somehow, goes to the back of my head and cuts out about half of the hair in one spot and it's just in random spots. I think it's just to make me look old. Not sure if it's Al Quaida behind it or the Communists but I'm sure it's a conspiracy.

But I will never stoop to doing those creative combovers like some people I know. One friend of mine, (well a former friend now technically since he won't speak to me after the last election! Long story.) practically combs the hair from his ears over the top of his head.... I'm sure nobody can tell! :)
