Got the grandsons for the long weekend.

Our daughter dropped off her two boys whom we will babysit while she and her DH head off for a birthday weekend in Napa with his parents. What a great birthday gift.

They are good little guys, but still lots of work. The older one is 3 and the younger one is 4 months. I have lots of frozen breastmilk, hot dogs, chicken, yogurt, bananas, Cheerios and cookies. That should help us through the weekend. I plan to make pancakes one morning -- the treat DD loved as a child, thanks to her scout leader: chocolate chip pancakes using the tiny morsels. I suspect he will like them.

Please be very careful with those hot dogs. It is so easy for little kids to choke on them.

Ok, ladies, I'm a bit late with mine, but been a hectic week to say the least. Oh, almost forgot to say how much I LOVE all of your purchases, real great eye candy!! We were out & about Saturday & ended up near a Value City store, I can't resist checking it out if I'm near one, but wasn't looking for dishes or tablewear at all. Anyway, on our way to check out there was a clearance table, it held two lonely place settings, one in a brown & one in an apple & pear. I'm saying one setting of each, that is all. Well, I had to look at them, they were marked down to $4.00, must have been the display sets. Then under the tag it said "cashier will deduct 50%"! HAH! I asked DH if I was nuts buying two place settings and he said to buy them for that price ($2.00/each) figuring I could use them on the counter with some type of seasonal vignette. Anyway, I also have a VC preferred card, well the cashier said if I had one my entire purchase was another 10% off, so each place setting was a whole $1.80!!!! Here they are, figured I can use the apple/pear after Easter & before summer & the brown set for fall with pumpkins & gourds.

Have not read entire thread so forgive me if I am suggesting/asking stuff already covered. Not sure what area you are in but do you have good cell coverage? Could you do without a landline? Can you get internet thru satellite or cable? When I had small kids I would not give up landline in case of 911 emergencies. When they got to where I thought they could accurately report address I dropped landline and we all have cells as well as an emergency cell that is pay as you go. It is charged and sits in kitchen. Also a couple years ago our area allowed us to voluntarily register our cell numbers with our address. I have since made 911 calls and they asked are you calling from home and able to then connect us to our address. I know that I really like the savings! Best of luck in your new home. Again, if you have small kids the cheapest landline might be a good idea. Maybe this really isn't about what you are asking but just my thoughts.

Thank you all:) It was very very VERY scary for me saturday morning. Jonathan acted so calm but after we were sure everything wwas OK he broke down crying. Even though he wasn't saying so he thought I was miscarrying he was just trying to stay calm for me. He later said he was glad Latla was fine but was more terrified for me than anything. It was without a doubt hands down the most terrified I have ever been and him seeing me so upset and scared really did a number on him. They determined that the blood vessel had already popped earlier in the week and the clots had formed and stopped the bleeding. The sex dislodged the clots and the bleeding started again. There will be no more sex. It scared us enough that we don't even want to risk it. This happened once earlier in the pregnancy but the bleeding was very light. It was NOTHING like this. I was literally dripping on the floor on the way to the bathroom. All I can say is thank god it turned out OK. As far as the girls mom is concerned I guess all we can do is watch her like a hawk and hope she eventually gets help. We will continue to do as much damage conrol as possible in the meantime. The woman looked like death warmed over. She was painful to look at. She's going to wind up either over dosing or finding enough courage to drag that knife across her wrist a little deeper. I am sick for the girls right now.

We have a fenced yard. There are no requirements for the pool to be fenced as well. (We're in Oklahoma. I understand from the pool forum that there are places that require a fence around the pool, even if the yard is fenced, but we're not one of those states.) Every other house on my street has a pool. No one has a pool fence (we were the only house with the fence around the pool), but all the yards are fenced. All the houses on my street back to the neighborhood greenbelt. So when walking on the greenbelt, all the other yards look so open and pretty, and then you'd get to our yard. It looks like Herman Munster designed a fence LOL!! I'm glad the rotten old thing is down. Because of the greenbelt and the view, we'll likely just build a retaining wall around the pool and plant some privacy plants instead of putting in another fence.

I hope you have loads of fun. I asked my 26 yr old GD just this week if she remembered that when she and the others stayed overnight that I used to tell them to try to remember them as we were making memories. She did.

I had to chuckle when I read you have plenty of 'breast milk'. I watched a little of Regis/Kelly one day this week where she and the cohost tried breast milk cheese!! No thank you very much.

Well, the pancakes bombed. That's ok. Will try them again in a few years.

As to Regis and Kelly, ugh. No thanks.

What a wonderful grandma you are. It is so hard for couples to get away without our help. I try to helo all I can, too. I am exhausted when they leave but it is so worth it all. Have fun.....

You are so sweet to have offered to take the grand kids so the parents can get a break. I wish I would have had that opportunity when my kids were small. It would have meant the world to me.
Enjoy them, as much work as it is, you are making wonderful memories.

Every time they leave, within the hour, DH or I say that it is too quiet here. We miss them right away. Ditto when our own kids leave after a visit.

DH is supervising the 3 year old now, playing soccer in the master bedroom. He loves to jump on the king sized bed too. We never allowed our own kids such adventures. Spoiling the grandsons proper.

Got the grandsons for the long weekend.
