Williams Sonoma half price on Ebelskiver pan today only

In case you are interested, I got an e-mail that Williams is having a half price sale today only on their Ebelskiver pan. Regular $40, but today only $20. Bummer. I already bought one at $40.

It worked!!! And they looked so cute! Both DH and DS really liked them. They are a winner! I also liked them for myself in regards to portion size. I just ate 2 little ones instead of a big pancake. Probably the same amount but it seemed like I was sticking to my diet more. Yes, it is a little more difficult then it looks in the video. It takes awhile to master the technique. Keep turning, medium low heat and spray oil the pan each time worked for me. Also do the middle one last because it cooks the fastest. They were also maybe more difficult because I used Krusteaz WW pancake mix. So some looked more like the surface of the moon then a nice smooth ball but they tasted good. And I served them with sauted apple slices (Staymen-Winesap from our tree) with a little powdered sugar and Penzeys cinnamon. Clare

If you like the store then go work for it part time. I did. It was a dream come true. The people are hired because they know the merchandise and are users. You get big discounts and that is why most employees are there. Everyone is part time. Throw in your cooking stories and you will have a ball. The staff is made up of people like all of you who will become life long friends. As you see them as a sales person is truly who they are.I have been to them all over the country and I know you all agree. They knew me as a customer before I had cancer and when I got cancer and was bored they said come be with us and pick your own hours. They begged me to. I did and gave cooking demonstrations. I was so alive and happy doing that. The best customers in the world go in there and there is no pressure. I was too sick to stay but it was my decision to leave. After I was done with cancer I celebrated in many ways and one meaningful way was with them. You betcha. At this time of year I do think of my dear, dear friends who are working very hard and I go in to give them a few hundred quick kisses and hugs. I hope one of you does work for them.

Some do have stainless like the Volrath Tribute above. I have a anodized commercial vintage skillet that is lined in stainless. Much of it does not. Most people are worried about a possible link to Alzheimer's but no link has been found-yet. You could find some danger in most cookware. I err on the side of caution and use different types of cookware to diversify risk. I watch what I cook in aluminum and don't cook high acid foods. I do use some uncoated aluminum bakeware and a griddle but as they season, it puts a barrier between the food and the aluminum. I also often use parchment so that makes a barrier although some people find fault with parchment.

With the Legacy 44, I can fit four shallow half-sheet cookie trays in each oven, although some pans of that size are a little tight to fit. I like that the trays are interchangeable between both ovens. Being somewhat smaller than a full size, they do heat up to temp faster. Probably the only limitation I can think of is a jumbo turkey wouldn’t fit, although I would prefer to make that in an electric roaster. The power burners of 15k have been powerful enough for my needs, like a good sear on a steak. My local higher end appliance store sells Aga, Wolf, and Viking, and the owner told me out of the three, there are the least frequent service calls on the Aga, in his experience anyway. I was convinced I wanted a Bluestar from reading gardenweb posts, but I’m nowhere near a distributor. Thought I had to have those ultra power burners they are known for. But once I saw the Legacy in person, my heart sang, so to speak. I don’t regret having the less powerful burners. I do love walking into my kitchen every day and seeing the shiny enamel and chrome of the Aga center stage!

I have a vintage Griswold Ebelskiver cast iron pan. I think I have only used it twice. Once to make the traditional pancakes and once for eggs poached in butter.

Sue, I'm interested in how you used it to make cinnamon buns. The little indents in the pan aren't very deep. Did you use your regular cinnamon bun recipe?

Thanks for the info, I got one of the last ones at our local store, they are sold out online. I think my grandchildren will like them when they visit at Christmas and I'll make them for my Christmas morning brunch.

All gone. Both at the store and online. "Oh, you should have asked them to hold one when you called this morning." Oh, who knew, maybe they could have offered.

My fault, I'm five minutes from the mall, I procrastinated. :(

Next mission, find a Griswold. I've got a handful of pieces and this would make a nice addition.

I received another email from WS with a new daily special, a set of two Calphalon pans for $70. Very tempting so I may call the store to hold one for me.
