Yeah, that's a good question about the GE FD with icemaker. I haven't heard anything on that, nor did I ask the guy at Lowes. This whole issue is odd -- besides this board, no other mention anywhere on the web. Nothing from Samsung (I sent them a question about it two weeks ago, but no reply). And yet, Samsung refrig offerings on the Lowes website are getting thinner and thinner (either "temporarily unavail" or being pulled from the site altogether). Something's not right. Is Lowes backing away from carrying Sammy appliances?

Today I looked at some "deep sump" stainless gas drop-in cooktops. I'm wondering how easy these are to keep clean vs. the black surface of the slide-in range tops. Specifically, right now I'm considering the Electrolux E36GC75ESS (36" slide-in ) or possibly the Electrolux E46GC66ESS 46" drop in cooktop. I really want the slide-in, but will have to do additional cabinet work for the retro-fit. If I got the drop in, I can avoid the cabinet work, but don't think I'll like it nearly as much. I think ease of clean will be the deal clincher for me. DH of course doesn't want to fool with cabinet work, but I want to know I'll love what we choose. I currently have an old SS Jenn-Air unit that does have some discoloration on the stainless from over-heating, age, etc. which causes the concern about the drop-in - but then it's probably 20 yrs old. Besides great functionality, I do want it to age well. I would appreciate any advice from gas cooktop owners! Thanks! (reposted this since I forgot the question marks earlier and got no responses:))

Good Sunday morning from SUNNY NH!! The rain has finally stopped for the time being. The water from the brook that borders our property is uncomfortably high. The danger of major flooding is still here as some major dams have yet to reach the highest point yet. We now have majorly high winds, about 50mph gusts so we can expect lots of power outages and downed trees. I did however witness a magnificent double rainbow yesterday afternoon as the sky was clearing! It was spectacular and I hope to get a nice picture of it. There was also a beautiful near full moon that I haven't thought about in over a week! Proof that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Patti, that's sage advice. DH and I always come to the conclusion that we are stronger together than apart and that we can get through anything together. We had friends come up from Westport, CT yesterday and it took them from 10am to 4pm because of all the detours. I91 was closed down in both directions! They probably wished they stayed home but we all had a lovely dinner together! Gretchen, I am thinking of you and your sister and hope all went well with her sugery. Check in when you can. Wow! That is totally unacceptable rusting!! I just re-read the warranty (I have read so many over the last several days that I can no longer keep them all straight), and am surprised that it is so short compared to other units. One year. Period. That's all, folks! You did not happen to purchase it with an American Express card, did you? I ask, because not everyone knows that AE doubles the manufacturer's warranty for free, in which case, you would still be under warranty. Well, if I keep this unit, I will definitely keep a sharp eye on this as it gets closer to the 1 year period, and if I still have this unit, the 2 year period when the AE warranty extension runs out. Mine is the W3 vs your W1. Perhaps they corrected your issues. I am only on my second load so far. The first was a king sized comforter that it did a great job on. This load is the linens that I used to have to split into two loads with my old unit. It just finished, and everything is far less twisted than with my old agitator unit. So far, no unbalance situation, and so far, so good. Would you mind telling me how you defeated the lid lock? I tried putting my magnets on top of the switch, but it did not work. The latch came out and did not stay out. When I held the latch with the magnets still on top, this did not work either. Kristi, below is a link to the 6200's manual. Look at the picture on page 12 and you will see a Load Size selection option offering Small, Medium, Large, Super and Auto, so that is to me how you select the water level. You might want to read through the manual and make sure you are happy with the other features it has or perhaps does not have. Best of luck to you!
