15 Inch Drawer panels on a garbage pull out

My KD put a regular door on my garbage pull out with the knob in the middle

( single garbage). I thought this was odd so I "paid" to make the change after the cabinet order was in to have it look like fake drawer panels. She sent me the updated drawings and I am concerned that it is narrow and the 15 inch fake drawers will look funny. Does anyone have a single garbage pull out with fake drawer panels that is that small? can I see a photo

i guess it would depend on how the cabinet run looks together. i don't think it would necessarily look strange at all. can you post a drawing?

What do the cabinets on each side of it look like? I have a 3 drawer stack on one side of my trash pull out and a set of doors on the other. I chose a door panel with a drawer above it for mine and it looks great. I did not mount the handle in the center like you would for a drawer, I mounted it exactly like it is on the real doors....off to the side. A 3 or 4 drawer stack panel would have looked fine too.

I think trash compactors are one of those things people either love or hate. I've never had one and would not want one. All things being equal I'd pick the house without one. If you put in a pull out trash, and your buyer wants a compactor, they can install one. If you put in a compactor, it's a lot harder to get rid of that and get the matching cabinet door to convert to a pull out trash. HOWEVER! The real question is: Are you remodeling for yourself or for some potential buyer down the road? Are you going to sell your house immediately after the remodel? If so, then yeah, you want to do what will sell the house. But if not, then IMHO you want to remodel your kitchen to please yourself. Trying to guess what some potential buyer might or might not want, years from now, is a no-win game. And in the meantime you're living with a kitchen that's less than ideal for you.

I have the 15" pull-out. It is definitely enough, but I am the type of person to bring the garbage down to the garage every night. If you are not that type, then I doubt the 15" would hold more than a day's garbage, and so, wouldn't work for you. Furthermore, I have a disposal (the Waste King 3/4 hp batch feed) that I put in as much as possible, including corn cobs, smaller chicken bones, all vegetables, coffee grounds, pretty much anything within reason, and per the disposal's instruction manual which allows a lot. That helps a lot with diminishing the amount I put in the garbage, so I would advise you to get a good disposal (whatever the brand, it must be at least 3/4 hp or 1 hp) to go with the smaller pull-out. Also, so much in a kitchen design is compromise. If I were choosing between a larger sink or a 18" pull-out, the larger sink would win. You will be glad for a larger sink every time you use it.

you don't think it will look strange if the 2 ends don't match? Since that side of the island doesn't face an open space, I think you'll seldom see the whole side at once. Therefore, not matching is irrelevant. The countertop already won't match, and I think that will be far more visible, so I wouldn't worry at all about the underneath part not matching. I would suggest making the shallow drawer a little wider (same as the butcher block) and lose the other drawer completely. That way, you would scoot the stools down a bit and have some more roominess created by the overhang continuing around the corner. We have three stools in a 7.5' opening, and with elbows and legs, I can't imagine being truly comfortable with four stools and only six more inches. We have 18" deep drawers on our pantry wall, and we find them tremendously useful. I think 15" could be quite useful, too.

I've had a longer bail pull on a pot drawer before. As an adult, I *knew* to not pull on it from the side or mishandle it. However, in my home, then of four children...some teens that were in a hurry, mispulled and eventually the handle slipped out of the socket and it was a problem forevermore. In my 36" desk drawer front there are two 5.5" bail pulls. It works great and looks proportionate. I decided to use two handles on my wider drawers in my kitchen. I'd show you but we're literally doing glazing on my doors today and they're not installed right now. Just consider 'who' will be using the drawers and how much weight will be in those drawers before you decide on one pull or not. I would opt for two pulls. People can't use them if they're not there.

I had the KD get rid of the panel because I thought pulling it out without the handle centered would be odd. She had my knob in the center of the door, so I changed it to drawers only so I can have a pull in the center. It is to the right of my farm sink and that is the end of the run. To the left of my sink is the dishwasher. Do you think that would look ok?. When I get a chance I will post drawings

Here are drawings and I have 2 copies of the wall with the sink. One with the garbage pull out appearing like a door with a knob in the middle and then the change where the 15 inch space looks like 3 drawers so I can use a center pull.
