Trash pull out cabinet or stand alone trash??
Comments (7)Gizmonike, Are those electrical outlets above the garbage pullout? How did you modify the upper drawer so that it would accommodate the outlets and so that the drawer front would slide back and then over the outlets like that? Fantastic idea. I also had the idea of putting a shredder on the garbage container in the back of the pullout cabinet so that I could use it for paper to be recycled, which would necessitate an outlet inside the trash cabinet as well. Is there room inside the cabinet to accommodate that?...See More15 Inch Drawer panels on a garbage pull out
Comments (4)What do the cabinets on each side of it look like? I have a 3 drawer stack on one side of my trash pull out and a set of doors on the other. I chose a door panel with a drawer above it for mine and it looks great. I did not mount the handle in the center like you would for a drawer, I mounted it exactly like it is on the real doors....off to the side. A 3 or 4 drawer stack panel would have looked fine too. sorry for the dark picture...but the cabinet door on the far left is my trash pull-out....See MoreReplacing trash compactor with pull-out
Comments (6)We did, meaning we chose a trash pull-out in our new kitchen instead of a trash compactor, same size space. We actually put two trash pull-outs into our kitchen, one in the cleanup area near DW & sink, and the other on the far side of our island near refrigerator & pantry. Our pull-outs hold two plastic trash bins, which are removable & replaceable. We use the front one for trash & the back one for recycling. (The City of Dallas does not require us to sort recyclables & provides a "free" recycling bin along with our trash service.) We also have space for a small drawer above our trash pullouts. One we use for wine openers, stoppers, etc. The other we "sacrificed" to provide electrical outlets to that side of the island. The drawer "front" flips up for the outlets or down to cover them....See MoreTrash compactor v. dbl pullout trash cabinet?
Comments (10)This house had a compactor when we moved in 6 1/2 years ago. I'd always thought they were relics of the 60s and 70s but I quickly became a fan. When we redid the kitchen, I upgraded to a nice new Kitchenaid compactor:) I LOVE my trash compactor and wouldn't be without it. Two of my sisters also recently put in compactors and love them too. We actually added a 2nd one in the pantry for recycables. They get mildly compressed so we can easily go a week without them being all over the place. We had a pullout in the temporary kitchen during the remodel and I couldn't wait to get my compactor back. The pullout bin seemed to fill up within about 1/2 a day of emptying the trash, and it would spill out the top all over into the cabinet. It drove me mad :) I love that I only have to empty once a week on trash day. Sure, it is a little heavy but easy for me or DH to lift. Anita PS - We also freeze leftover meat, chicken, bones, etc, btw....See Moreoruboris
