Where can I find 12-inch deep cabinets with drawers ?
Comments (13)Wow birkie thanks for that ! It looks like a couple Akarum cabs might work out just great. I'm going to head into the local IKEA this weekend to get some cabinet boxes in the sizes I think will work ... if it doesn't, it wasn't an expensive experiment ! Syllabus ... I am jealous of those extra 2 inches you have :-) I don't have a detailed plan for how I'm going to make this work, but I showed the pic to my builder and he grunted and said "Yeah I can do that". I have planned to use a Kohler Memoirs sink, which is attached both to the wall and to either a pedestal or a console. I figure we can rig up some sort of beefy support structure hidden within the cabinet. Now that the bathroom is framed, I am a bit worried that the Memoirs will jut into the room too much (it's 21" deep, and a square sink), so I am considering the Kohler Devonshire, which is 19" deep and rounded at the front. Isn't it funny how plans look OK on paper, but when you actually SEE the room things start to close in on you. LOL....See MoreVote: 15 inch uppers or 18 inch uppers with 30 inch deep counters
Comments (2)I am short (5'1"). I tried playing with how it would feel to have 30" deep counters. Using my range I am reminded of why it wouldn't be a good idea for me. The range is 28.5 inches deep. I have to really stretch to clean the back guard and it isn't as far away as the wall. I think I would go with the deeper uppers if you don't mind things getting lost in the rear of them. Reaching over 30" counters to a 12" upper would be fruitless for me. As it is now I can only reach the front row of glasses on the second shelf of my 12" over 24" cabs now. I do wonder what prevents you from putting in a full height pantry on the 18 foot wall? That's a nice long space....See MoreHow deep are your shallow drawers?
Comments (14)Doesn't DeWils have a framed and frameless line? We were in one showroom with both lines, and the drawer depth was what made us decide to go with frameless cabs (but we ended up with custom cabs - almost went with DeWils). I have 4 drawer stacks with 3 shallow drawers and one taller one on the bottom. On these cabinets, the top drawer has slightly less height than the next 2 drawers, even though the drawer fronts and boxes are all the same height. The top one has 3 7/8 inches of clearance and the next two have 4.5 inches total clearance. Boxes of ziplock bags do not fit standing vertically in the top drawer but fit fine in the lower drawers. Smashed ziplock boxes was something I hated in my old kitchen! The bottom, taller drawer has 8 3/4 inch clearance. Good luck to you!...See MoreNeed 18-inch deep drawer base cabinets
Comments (4)Not clear, do you need 18" or 20" deep cabinets? I would look for a local cabinetmaker or carpenter who is experienced in building cabinets, and talk to him about what you need. Sometimes you might be surprised to learn that their prices are quite reasonable. If having the full depth of drawers (ie, 18" drawers in a 20" deep cab) isn't a priority, you could use Ikea's 15" deep wall cabinets and install them set away from the wall - the gap covered by your counter. Menard's (if you have them in your area) also sells Ikea-like KlearVue cabinets in 15" depth. If you are quite handy (or have someone who is) and have the tools, perhaps a standard 24" RTA cabinet could be cut down and drawers ordered or cut down to size. I believe Barker Cabinets can make them to your desired depth, but they aren't low cost. They do have the advantage of being frameless, though....See Morealku05
