Sink vs windowsill...what to do w/ backsplash?
Comments (22)(hijack, sorry warmfridge -- buffalotina, thanks for that input and the kind words. I wish I had really considered sillites, but didn't think I wanted extra holes in the granite. And I really thought plugmold would be thinner and less obtrusive. It was a shock, to be sure, but kind of like the kid who asks for a pet giraffe and then says just kidding, can I get a dog? and the parents think a dog is not so bad... that's how I felt when they eliminated the junction box. It suddenly became something I could live with. They will also be painted, and I think you are right, they really don't show up that much from a distance.) warmfridge, if I'm reading you right, the main issue is cutting the tiles, right? I hear the grout issue too, but I don't understand if it's cutting the tiles, leaving raw edges, that will create the need for more grout, or something else. IOW, if you had a different size tile or a liner that didn't need cutting, would that work? What kind are they, and what are the dimensions?...See MoreWhite Kitchen w/ Danby Marble- help w/ backsplash!
Comments (15)Thank you for the great suggestions. I would love to check out the walker zanger Gramercy park. There are no WZ distributors near us - Madison wi so I'm going to have to travel a ways to find a show room. Ellendi I think your spot on about there not being enough of a contrast between my creamy cabinet color and my danby marble so a basic subway wont wor as it does in Phorbin's beautiful kitchen. I need some type of transition. I know cararra marble is out as it has too much grey and white. I think I really need to introduce the cream shade. I love the glass tile look but I feel as if I'm going for the classic timeless look in my materials so I almost feel a ceramic would fit the bill better. Boy does tile run the gamut in price! I never knew. I also love Bee,s beautiful arabesque tile- not sure of the shade that would be best. I don't really want to introduce any "color" I like the uniformity of whites and creams....See MoreKitchen backsplash height, existing 4" backsplash, and ending dilemma
Comments (9)I have a similar question five years later: Is the 4" matching back splash now out of style? And how long will it stay out of style? Doubt that it would be possible to get a full matching back splash 14 years after the home was built. I am considering removing the 4" back splash and going with a complementary tile or, perhaps, a colorful wallpaper. Thoughts as to how long the short back spash will stay out of style? (I'm old enough to remember bell bottoms - the first time they were in style.)...See MoreWhat to do with Kitchen Backsplash (back wall of my kitchen)
Comments (5)What about just having the Calcutta as the backsplash? Just run it to the bottom of the hood. No other stone or anything else needed....See Moreslc2053
