faucet supply, braided vs. pex, etc

I'm replacing a sink where the supplies also have tee compression fittings that supply a second sink (as opposed to a separate set of valves). So there will be a small handful of compression fittings that need to remain reliable over time.

Instead of using braided lines (eg. faucet-to-shut-off's, and faucet-to-compression fitting), I am thinking of using pex supplies (with compression nut & nylon ferrule), but haven't used them before. Are they any more or less reliable than braided, and much do you tighten the nut for these connections? Tighter than a braided line, or about the same? Any other caveats?

And if they are more reliable (and cheaper), I may start using them more under sinks. Good idea?

Thanks.
