Glad you found something that works! I'm going to CVS tomorrow & will see if they have them & get mom some. She hasn't had a problem since she left rehab but she still has to go often so it might help that! Maybe it is irritation & can heal it up. Hope you have a great checkup at Mayo! Mom has been cancer free for several years now except CLL which isn't causing a problem but has to be checked every 3 mos. Thanks for the update! Jan

I hate to be the wet blanket, but this isn't necessarily a kind thing. Euthanasia isn't the worst thing that can happen to a pet. Have you met this woman? Have you seen the "farm"? What happens when your cat gets another urinary tract infection? Is she actually a client of your vet, or did she just give him her phone number? So many times people who "take in" cats are just replacing barn cats that don't last long due to predators or untreated health problems. I once repossessed a kitten, actually called the vet & told her she better get my kitten back, because I found out the true circumstances about the 'good home in the country'. Maybe this situation really is good, & I hope it is, but if it were my cat, I'd check.

I had a cat that was 11 yrs old. Vet diagnosed him with kidney failure after $$$$$ of test. I was advised to bring him back every month to get blood test done to see how it was progressing. I myself have interstitial cystitis, and I drink aloe vera juice. It does help, not heal. I am able to tolerate with meds. So, I brought Jasper home and started giving him aloe vera juice. At first I had force it down him with a syringe without needle. Then he must have began to feel better. I would say Jasper, do you want your juice. He would come running. Then I just took a bowl and kept it full of juice. When it would get empty, he would let me know. He lived to be 15 1/2 yrs old and I never took him back to the vet after the diagnosis. Now, I am not a Dr. and do not recommend you not use your vet or do what you feel is right for your baby. I am just telling you what I did for mine and it worked and was a lot less cheaper. With my IC, antibiotics make it worse. I DO NOT take antibiotics unless it is an emergency. I have given my other dogs and cats aloe vera juice as well when I notice they may feel bad and it has kept us out of the vets office. This is just my humble opinion. Elly-there has been nothing out of the ordinary going on in my home.No kids here,no other pets that haven't always been here,same litter after trying different ones that didn't make any difference.I tried confining her,no luck there either.Tried Nature's miracle,washed everything I could that she has peed on but she goes right back and pees again.If I put litter boxes in every spot she has peed on they would be lining the walls and on the furniture in every room!LOL We keep the doors to the bedrooms closed and DH normally closes his at night but left it open the night she peed on his bed because it was hot in there. Livvysmom-,I really don't think the Cat Attract litter would help.She uses the litter box ALL the time for pooping,just not all the time for peeing.I do confine her to my bedroom,bathroom and computer room at night and part of the day(they are all connected).Her litter box is in the computer room which is the only feasable place for it.She pees under my bed and in the bathtub at night or if she is confined to those rooms during the day.If I close her up in the computer room she howls and scratches on and under the door all night.She has even pulled up the carpet under the bathroom door because I locked her in there one night!I have even tried taking her water up at night thinking if she doesn't drink water she won't pee.WRONG!!!!LOL I am in the same position as your sister.I can't afford to replace furniture and carpet and as bad as I hate to I may have no other recourse but to put her down.I thought about trying to find her another home but who else would want the problem? I will call the vet Monday and ask about the antibiotics. Anyway,thanks everyone for all the advice and keep the suggestions coming if you have more.......Lillie
