Is this light/faucet combo too much on my island?
Comments (11)This thread took me on an interesting ride of googling and clicking links which lead me to find out something interesting about the lamp you posted. mtnrdredux mentioned a few other sources Obsolete was the first one. I googled and found their site. Looked at the cool stuff they have for sale. From there I clicked on a facebook link and read about their issue with RH, which lead me to a website showing RH knocking off some of their (obsolete's) pieces. Interesting. Your lamp was one of them. Also, I fell in love with that faucet for a while myself. Nowhere near ready to do my kitchen reno (still in planning stages), we had to replace our broken kitchen faucet. I bought an inexpensive decent faucet and am surprised to find that I stopped looking at any other faucets now. I'm surprised in myself since my heart was set on it for a while. Anyway, I still do think it's beautiful. I've seen it in person. I understand how you want it. Also love the lamp. I think, as long as there is some space in between, you'll be okay with them together. Like the cardboard idea to figure it out. Comments (2)There was just a thread on this a few days ago - I've linked it below in case you didn't see it. Following their rule of thumb, if you have 56" total for the two cabinets the upper should be should be about 18", but you can do whatever you think looks good. I have 60" total in my kitchen, so mine should 40" and 20". We aren't using custom cabinets, so the closest standard cabinets would be 42" and 18". I don't like that look, so I'm going 36" and 24". Also, I like about 12" between shelves, so that allows me a shelf spacing I'll like. Here is a link that might be useful: Stacked cabinet link...See MoreAre my windows too tall to mull?
Comments (5)My thoughts exactly as that is getting quite tall. Vinyl i would say definitely some structure. May not need to be wall framing as you may be able to get away with what some call a support mullion, which would be a steel or possible aluminum bar that would give some extra rigidity to the verticals. The units would be attached the same way the just incorporating the metal bar....See MoreWhat's the type of my Succulent? Grown too tall
Comments (9)It is positively a kalanchoe. Maybe longiflora. I wouldn't worry about etoliation, kalanchoes don't form the tight rosettes that echeverias do. Kalanchoes prefer bright, indirect light and more hummus rich soil. I would repot to one size larger, use 2 parts potting mix and 1 part perlite or pumice. Repotting multi stemmed plants only seems scary, once you have her out of the dirt it's easy. Utilize YouTube, there are some fantastic gardeners that will walk you through the process step by step. And I would keep the babies in the pot. Kalanchoes produce babies on the end of their leaves that readily grow just about anywhere. These guys are easier to remove than the rooted ones in the pot. I say it looks like you're taking great care of her and you seem very aware of her changes, so just keep up the good work. Check out the kalanchoe section on worldofsucculents.com It's my favorite resource and you're sure to learn something new!...See Morejterrilynn
