Chair rail height and paint como question

I posted this on the Home Decorating forum, but since I "know" the folks here, I hope you'll share your ideas on my dilemma. Please let me know if you think this will work, or not!

I've decided to paint the 11' x 12' office in a two tone color scheme, dark red (Picnic Table) on the lower walls, medium taupe (Skylark) on upper walls, light taupe (Homespun Linen) on all trims, and an even lighter version of taupe on the ceiling and doors.

I want the lower red walls to be much taller than the normal 34" chair rail height. I'd like to carry the red from the baseboard up to 6' high, installing a chair rail (or picture rail?) and painting the upper 2' of the wall the medium taupe.

Would this look odd?

The ceilings are 8' tall with one north facing window, (36x50), one sliding closet door (west wall, 72x84), and one entry door, (southeast corner of room, 36x84). All the paint colors are from Lowe's Martha Stewart line.

Do you have any photos or suggestions for a two-toned room done someway other than the standard chair rail style?
