Holly had her puppies yesterday afternoon.

And yesterday evening.

And last night.

Ten.

We have ten puppies.

Here is the whole fam-damily.

Or rather, what you can see of them.

You can see, though, we have a wide variety of colors and markings....

At first Holly was pretty unconcerned with her babies but then the Kitty strolled into the backporch and ignited the maternal instinct. Poor cat. All he wanted was to go outside.

I haven't sexed them yet.

I am very confused with what we have here.

We sent Holly to a pedigree'd corgi the last part of her heat. They spent three days together. Up until then Holly was either in the house, with Ern or locked up in the saddle room which has been amorous-dog-proof...until now.

Custer's theory is dogs jumped in the back of the pickup and bred Holly while he was inside BSing and who am I to say this didn't happen. The darndest things, as you oldtimers may remember, happen at THE Station here in my town.

Jesse is at a barrel race this weekend in Ogden.

I emailed photos of the puppies.

She's sold three puppies so far and more are interested.

The ownder of the corgi stud will taken one in lieu of the breed bill; six to go and they aren't twenty four hours old yet.

YIKES! 10 of them? You must have the patience of a saint!
Will she be able to nurse them all? Can't remember how many she had in her last litter, but hoping she does great. Holly is such a little gal I wonder where she kept them all! LOL

I resolved the problem on my mower as follows: I put together an oil drain extension in place of the engine drain plug at the lower left side of the Kawasaki FJ180V 6.0 engine. I can now drain the oil through it by leaning the mower on the left side. The oil filter is on the same side, so any oil drippings when changing it can go into a catch pan. I used the following five parts to replace the original plastic drain plug: Kawasaki Part # 59071-7004 Â This thread adapter screws into the engine and accepts NPTF 3/8" pipe thread. It replaces the original plastic drain plug on the left side of the engine. Kawasaki "O" ring (16mm) Â This is used on the above adapter. It is the same part as the one on the original plastic drain plug. Brass Pipe Bushing: 3/8" MIP x Â¼" FIP. Â This reduces the 3/8" pipe thread down to Â¼". Brass Pipe Nipple: Â¼"MIP x 2". Â This extends the drain to where it can be easily used. Brass Pipe Cap: Â¼" FIP Â This is the final drain cap at the end of the 2" pipe nipple. This all clears the oil filter hardware and the fuel line to the carburetor from the fuel tank. Total cost, about $12. Charles Ranheim

Hi Bob, I appreciate your comments. I did want to point out to all that this was originally posted in February of 05. I have found myself posting to an old post a number of times and didn't realize it. Easy to do. I am glad this post was resurrected as it gives me an opportunity to update. Wow, it has been two years since I posted that. So what has changed since then? Well..I don't feel overwhelmed any more and I have arrived at a comfortable pace at making changes to native. My maple tree remains and I feel fine with that decision. As I pointed out before, I am surrounded by maples of the same variety and removing mine will not make a difference at all in my immediate neighborhood. I do still hold out hope of taking the tree down, but one thing at a time. We removed a 100ft shrub border of old overgrown shrubs and started with a clean slate. Have started adding native shrubs and perennials. Clethra, a gray dogwood that someone here recommended, lindera benzoin, oakleaf hydrangea, ninebark and viburnums and a small dogwood tree and amelanchier tree so far. We are enjoying the new plants in the yard, but the change has not been without cost. Ripping out that whole border has exposed our yard all along our back lot line and we have no privacy at all whereas before no one could see into our yard. That is another reason the tree has remained. So when our new border fills in enough to give us some privacy we may find we are ready to take the tree down. Has anyone checked prices on having a tree removed? I have been hearing $1,000. Pretty steep! As for perennials...we created a long 50 ft raised border along our vegetable garden and are in the process of adding butterfly plants and other natives. Asclepias, echinacea, joe pye weed among others. We are now just beginning to add shade natives. This seems to be a little more difficult because they are expensive and not as easy to start from seed as the sun lovers are. I also am on a budget so I look for seed trades and for some reason the shade plant seeds seem to be scarce. We have also started buying more and more from the NEWFS here in Massachusetts. That is new. I have also met and have started corresponding with at least two other GW members who are also interested in native plants. Plus it just seems to me I am running into more and more posts on GW that mention an interest in natives. That is very encouraging. So..two problem plants that are still in my yard are one burning bush, that is slated for removal as soon as we can get to it. The other is a spring poppy that is not the native but the import from China. I have started pulling the non native poppy two years ago, but still am getting back some reseeded ones evidently. I think this will be the year though. I just ordered some native poppy seeds from NEWFS and hope I get good germination. I am ready to pull the next generation of the old poppy and that might do it for me then in goes the native poppy and voila! lol I am enjoying it and feeling good about it. So I hope that encourages everyone in the native forums that all your time spent responding to posts and answering questions and trading seeds is making a difference. :-) adam

Gosh are they ever cute!!! You'd better get some little bottles handy to help Holly out. I haven't seen a newborn pup in years.....do all puppies have little pink faces?

Why do you think they are not purebred Corgis? Because of the colors? My neighbor has 3 ...1 black and white...1 brown and white and 1 blue merle.All are pedigreed,she shows them.

Oh, they're all SO cute! Maybe they'll all turn out to be Corgis, Lori. You are going to be even busier now, will we EVER get to see you? lol

Do you still have that blue bowl? We need another shot like that one! Ask Holly if you can borrow the babies for a minute.

Two puppies died in the night.
Both were very small.
This is sad but for the best.
Holly can raise eight puppies I'm sure.
Ten would have been pushing it.

They are so precious, sad that two died but will be easier on Mom that's for sure.

They are so sweet and precious, but it saddens me to see puppies (and kitties) purposely brought into the world when the shelters are full of so many needing homes and are put to death when they are not adopted. JMO Dottie

When Gabby has her puppies they are all gonna get mixed up! LOL

What precious babies! Holly sure put in a hard day's work, didn't she? And she'll work hard for the next 8 - 10 weeks, too! LOL! I'm sorry about the two that were lost, that's always sad.

If they would only stay small, I'd have a dozen of them myself. Please, please give them each a snuggle from me. I love their little mewling sounds at this 'slug' stage.

We're just getting start Ioway Gal with the calves.
The bulls didn't go in until June 28th.
The weather is awful, of course which is very funny...it was a beautiful day when we turned the bulls out!

The three puppies that died were not meant for this world. I made sure each had suckled and had new milk from Holly then bottle fed a 1/2 ounce of Jenni's puppy formula.
Poor little things but it's for the best.
All are so fat they keep rolling on their backs.
Holly is a nervous wreck but is also in heaven as she is getting not only puppy chow but moist dogfood as well to keep her weight and protein levels up. She rushes outside does her business and rushes back. We have to be very careful that she doesn't lay on a puppy. Right now they aren't big enought to yelp out an S O S so I can rescue them!

Don't worry Dog and don't be sad.
I am very very careful where I place my puppies and I keep track of them. The male 'unknown' factor is limited to a few dogs in our area and all are good dogs.

It'll be a riot when Gabby whelps.
If you show up for coffee watch where you place you feet cause each step will be a time bomb...

New pictures???

I know they've changed in the last few days.

If it was the right time in my life, I'd be heading to UT to pick me up one in 9-10 weeks..Finally convinced hubby that I can have a Corgi. But he won't let me get another dog until Jillian is gone..and we've got some years yet!

We prefer nubby dogs!!
