The Moon appears to be resting on this tree limb, and weighing it down a bit.

Beautiful moon shot. I saw it last night. It has been cloudy here until last night. CCCold here this morning 19 degrees.

check with your local arborist or county master gardener and they will freely or willingly answer your question. Or at least with the local nursery (not a garden center at a store). I think a heavy eyebolt would work but might pull out. A rope or chain thru a piece of old hose might be ok around the limb. The thing is, is it less expensive to make a frame or to lose the limb in the future. As the arborist for sure.

Coyote, I am with Mary on the asking money back or atleast a replacement of same. Sometimes you can send a photo (photo of before you pruned it) to the seller and they might replace it. Note to them about dark and shrunk and dried up branches and roots. It is worth a try. With the plant in hand. From what I was told with one particular plant that I have. Was to soak in super thrive, you have soaked so I do not know if I would redo. Plant it up into a gritty mix and keep in shaded or filtered light situation until it shows growth, then slowly move into morning or late afternoon sun. Do not water in after transplanting for 3-4 days, then water through until comes out bottom. Won't water again until it dries back. What a beautiful plant you had and I can understand you wanting it. I can only imagine your disappointment. Hope all goes well. They seem to be quite resilient. I am told that with these Adeniums that they become soft and then softer when they are hung (as they do at Adeniumsindia) for up to a month. They do not dry and wither as many other genus do. They may after a very long time. With your plant drying and shriveling might be a selling point to seller. Rick

Hi Angie, There's a good possibility that it is related to the weather, but even though summer branch drop or summer limb failure has long been known to occur, tree experts still have not reached a concensus on exactly why it occurs. One school of thought is that it is the high flow of moisture through the limb that weakens it....not necessarily a lack of moisture. Rather than resulting from a lack of moisture, it results from all the work the tree's vascular system does to transport enough water throughout the tree to equal the amount of moisture lost to transpiration. Another possible cause is that prior root damage from years before may ultimately lead to summer branch failure, or that it is related to cellulose tissue problems within the limb. Summer branch failure is most common on large, strongly horizontal limbs, but has been observed on vertical limbs as well. It is observed on some types of trees more than others. A few of the trees we have here in Oklahoma that exhibit summer branch failure more than others include oaks, sycamores, maples and ornamental pears. There's really nothing you can do about it. Wonderful...when I ran this AM it was 21 degrees and the moon was still so bright it cast shadows on the trail.

I went out at 3am this morning to check my greenhouses for heat, and spotted a ring, or halo, around the moon, very pretty. I took some photos, but they make the moon look blurry. Never too cold for me to see some of nature's beauty.

That is beautiful!!! I tried to get a moon shot the other morning, but it was about 5 degrees and I eventually gave up trying....

Wow...Pretty cool shot, Kt! I haven't tried one of those kind for awhile (I couldn't control the moon from moving or it still was to dark to see the outlines, lol)...But when I first got my first very basic digital I layed on the ground, in winter...to get those kind...so disappointed and hilarious when you think about it...I surely didn't understand much about digital then and feeels like I'm only beginning to understand now (at least about the language and concepts of photograghy and it'll probably take forever to know anything, continously...It's still a favorite hobby!

Thanks, Everyone!

Marshelle, I took the photo with a Nikon Coolpix 5700.
1/60 second exposure at f/4.2. I use no filters, just the camera lens itself. I did take several photos, at different exposures, so that I would get one with the right amount of light in it.

I can not find how much zoom I used, for some reason it didn't record it when I downloaded it, but I was about 120 yards from the tree, in the photo. I took the photo leaning against the window while sitting in my pickup truck. I took a few pictures without any zoom also.

That is always the hardest part...getting detail of the moon. Such detail has seemed to elude me for most of my photographing life.
