It depends on what you want to plant. I planted my carrots and onion seedlings last month. As well as lettuce transplants and seeds. Like Robin says, you can get all of your cool-weather crops in now or even weeks ago. But tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, etc. will need to wait. I am nearly 100% certain we will not get another frost where I live. We haven't in 10 years had a frost past April (although some list our last frost date as May 15 or beyond). But that is not the entire issue. Plants can be protected from a freak frost by covering with blankets at night, etc. But what tomatoes, etc. don't like is the generally too-cold growing conditions. Sure days in the 60s are fine, but with the nights dipping into the 40s they are not happy campers. They will live, but they will not grow and can even be set back. In my garden, their leaves turn a purply color when they've been planted and it's still too cold. They just sit there and sulk until the temps are consistently in the 70s + during the day and not below 50 at night, preferably not below 60.

I think I must have been one of the AMA's most informative research subjects...but I'll be hanged if I can remember when the AMA was in touch with me... What I have noticed is, the more I read e-mail and spend time on line, the more I want to watch TV. If I spend too much time on any one day putting things INTO a machine with a video screen, the "compensation and entitlement"-processing part of my character/value system drives me to park in front of a TV and wear out the remote - with the attitude of: "Now it's payback time - YOUR turn to put stuff OUT for ME!" I'm there for today, believe me! What's good on the tube tonight?

Well, I did one once where I did an embroidery backstich for the shaft,,the head was a small bead...or you could do a french knot....

Some nice pics up there! I really like the sky pictures. I could look at clouds all day. Although I mostly grow calamondins, here are a couple other varieties. This first is a meyer lemon I gave to my sister last year. It had some real problems when we got the (almost free) tree - root problems, bug problems. But we pruned it and cared for it and it has really bounced back this year. It had 10 big juicy lemons this summer so far. The best we've eaten. 3 still on the tree and the tree has busted out with blooms like crazy. It likes this sunny window. The next tree is a mexican lime that really should have been re-potted this year, or two years ago! We didn't do it because we were not going to keep it (my friend was supposed to take it this summer). And it's not at my house. Now that winter is coming we don't know what to do with it, so it's sitting there till my friend needs a lime I guess.
