We've missed two of our grandkids' birthdays since we've been Sandy refugees. Can't ever get those times back. I had fun presents for them but gawd knows where those are now.(?) We're hoping to not miss the birth of the seventh which is coming up like a freight train.

I agree with momj47 though - keep green/yellow in mind for next year.

I think it looks like {{!gwi}}, which were known to have yellow accents. Case was my favorite as a child, but the toy models I had were John Deere and green. DF still has a Farmall, I think.

Is it a Texas sheet cake? I never thought of putting cookies on a cake, but it's a very good idea and an easy way to get decorations on.

How did you get the black color? Is it chocolate? It looks like the color of licorice.

Yes, Jim is the big winner, it's supposed to be a Farmall, although my favorite tractor was a 1932 Allis Chalmers. The tractor I learned to drive on, though, was Grandpa's old Farmall. It had a crank start and I broke my arm one summer when it "kicked back" and the crank caught me on the arm. Grandpa promptly installed an electric start, didn't want to lose a farm hand like that, LOL. Anyway, Dad used to tell me "Crops are green. Tractors are RED". (grin)

I know I can't get those parties and days back, but there's nothing to be done, it's one of the problems with blending two families, there are conflicts. At least there are two of us so one can go one way and one can go the other, and I'll be there in frosting....um.....spirit.

Lars, I don't think they'll put the cookies on the cake, they have a Marvel Superheroes cake ordered from one of their local bakeries, but I thought the cookies might make a good "side dish".

Madison's cake isn't done yet, I'm going to work on that today, along with the pink macaroni and cheese. I've already baked the pink and purple loaves of bread for the crown shaped sandwiches.

So, happy birthday to the kids, both of them. I missed the age on Jackson, though, he's going to be five. He was born right after Elery and I started dating, that went really fast.

Oh Annie. I wasn't referring to you missing one of the kid's parties. I was writing about missing two of our grandkids birthdays entirely. The storm has just put us into such chaos there was no way we could get to their parties in Maine. It's the first time we've missed birthday celebrations.

Tricia, I know, but missing one is missing it, whether it's though scheduling conflicts or hurricanes. They cannot be gotten back, despite the reason. Good thing someone invented cameras!

I know there were more than one orange tractor but Allis Chalmers and Kubota are what came to mind for me. Those are all great cookies! I have a soft spot for the tractor cookies too but the spider ones would be great for Halloween as would the bat ones too. Well done Annie!

LOL, cynic, those are SUPPOSED to resemble the Batman symbol and Spiderman's face. Ah well, maybe I'll just stick with tractors!

Wow, the year went by fast! Great cookies. I'd have that black frosting allllllll over the place. No matter...by the time I get a grandbaby I'll be too doddering to bake.

Pink mac and cheese? Not sure I can wrap my mind around that, lol.

I got a bunch of photos from my sister today, and it included this portrait of my siblings and me on a Farmall tractor, circa January 1982. I used to have a similar photo with the entire family but have not been able to find it lately. I had aviator sunglasses with pink mirrored lenses that day, but I took them off for the photo. I'm wearing Brazilian pants, Greek plastic shoes, and pink lamé socks that I had bought at The Funny Farm in San Francisco.

Love it Lars! I always thought you were a blonde! I have similar pictures of me when I first came to my husbands family dairy farm, ( and I was blonde), me on a tractor in my bikini! The neighbors thought I was crazy!

Kevin is in the red shirt, and he was 16 when that photo was taken. Our sister had a perm at the time, which she only had for a short time.

Di, I have been blond at times - I was very blond as a child, and then when I turned 50 I decided to go back to blond, as my natural color by then was very close to platinum blond, and it was easy to keep up. I stopped dying my hair a few years ago, but I used to dye it much darker in the 1980s, sort of in keeping with that decade. It was close to a natural color in that photo, however. I think a photo of you in a bikini on a tractor sounds very interesting... It does not sound crazy to me at all.
