$180?!?! I don't think so. Adele (catlover) gave me a 'turkey canon' in a swap, and I love it. The picture on the thread shows it sitting on the grill, but it does fit on one of my 1/2 sheet pans, so I have roasted veggies in it while the chicken drips away. Not real healthful, I know, but yum.

I read some of the reviews - most of them say it's hard to get the chicken to stay on that arm, that it slips off and you have to tie it on. Some said it takes 2 people.

When I first saw it, I thought, Hey I want that! hahahah!!! But now I dont want it after reading the reviews.

And that price! Holy Cow!

I saw this the other day while in WS. My initial thought as I approached it was "I gotta have it". The price tag made me back off and thinking more rationally about storage, X @ year I would use it, alternatives.

So, it's good to know about the challenges in using it.

That turkey canon looks very cool! I have the upright chicken and turkey holders that were popular about 20 years ago. I used to cook - either on the grill or in the smoker - 4 chickens at a time then freeze them. That was before rotisserie chickens were avail at the local market.

Here's another picture of jessy's turkey canon - I think I want one. Way, way cheaper than the All clad and easier to store and it looks simpler to use.

Oh geez, just when I thought there wasn't another silly kitchen gadget that anyone could think of inventing. And $180? Whatever.

I tried the beer can chicken once. I don't grill, so I did it in the oven. When I closed the door the can fell over, the beer splashed all over the oven, the smoke rolled. And the chicken wasn't any better than a plain old roasted chicken, LOL.

Nope, I'll stick to my roasting pan.

Nope...beer cans work fine and you can throw them away after use and don't have to store!

Hey, I had to go buy beer specially to make the stuff too. I don't care for beer and never have any in the house so I had to go to the local convenience store and buy one can of beer. They put it in one of those brown papers bags for me, LOL, I felt almost like I was getting away with something.

$180?? And that's the discount price, the suggested retail was $250!!

Jeepers, you can get a Ronco rotisserie for well under a hundred. A friend gave us one and it makes the best roast chicken ever.

The All-Clad chicken pan is outrageous at $180; but have you looked at all of the prepared food products they sell? Wow, oh WOW! Even with food prices in CT they are really expensive. Caveat: A couple years ago, my DBIL & DSIL gave us the tamales as a Christmas present & they were excellent...almost as good as my homemade...lol.

BTW, I could never get a chicken to stand up on top of a beer can. They always toppled over before I ever got them to the BBQ. So, I just hand DH a can of beer & say we're having "Beer Chicken" for dinner! :(

For those who have a problem keeping that beer can upright, here's a gadget I have and it works great. There are a few variations of this on the market. Its sometimes a lot easier to do this than to hook up the rotisserie on the grill. I also use it in the oven.

some where I have a picture of 3 or 4 chickens standing up on their little beer can seats....the secret is to position the legs just so so they support their little butts on that beer can.

I only ever buy beer in bottles, so finding beer in a can around here is more of a...specialty item.

I already have an All Clad roaster. I wish they sold just the arm - then I would consider it! The description says it fits all roasters so I don't know why they don't sell it separately.

We must have all just gotten the latest WS catalog!! hee hee!!!

We dont drink beer but sometimes have some bottles in the spare fridge for company that does. I just use a soda can and pour the beer in it.

If i don't want to use beer, I just use white wine and seasonings. The trick is in the steaming from the inside, not sure the type of liquid actually matters!

Hey, I tried the Idaho Black Hills BBQ sauce that katieC sent to me. It was very good!

I have to go to the store for a can/bottle of beer when I make chili. I guess that's why I always end up with Fosters; it's the only one that comes in a single can.

$180 for this and $450 for that Sous Vide thing. I guess if I made a chicken every night, it might be worth it, but otherwise, no.

I looked at that chicken roaster too, & thought it was ridiculous, especially for $180!!!

Now the prepared foods are another issue. Expensive, but so pretty. I'm always so tempted. I did order the candied apple for DH last year. It was huge, & VERY good, he told me.

It looks like a plain old V-rack would do almost the same thing. I think I paid about $15 for ours. Having said that, I have to admit that just this afternoon DW and I spent $46 for two packages of W-S peppermint bark.
