I am so, so tired. The flooring is done, the new windows are in and the house that I cleaned so much on Sunday is so so dusty! The curtains are washed and ironed. I will put them up tomorrow. I was going to make spaghetti sauce today. Wishful thinking. I went through 6 cans of spray starch on the curtains today. It smells like DH made himself some leftover chili. I will probably have the last of the chicken soup. Your spaghetti sounds so good.

Oh Georgysmom, I feel for you! You worked like a dog the last few days, and now you have to clean all over again.
The windows must look awesome though. Nice and bright and air-tight!

Meatloaf. I didn't make it, our local butcher shop makes it. Steamed squash, red potatoes.

We are having soup from Harry & David on the snowy cold day. Snow not sticking here on the valley floor, but the mountains are covered when you can see them. Wish I had seen that Johnny Cake recipe...would have been good with our soup; but we stopped at H&D and picked up fresh sourdough bread. Time for dinner...soon.

Nanny, I'm not sure if you saw the recipe in the morning thread, so here it is.

I just made it, using my cast iron skillet and it's just as I remembered as a kid.

We also called it Johnny Cake and had it with butter for dinner and then with golden syrup for dessert. This is my mom's recipe and the one that I use:

Johnny Cake
1 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup cornmeal
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup oil
1 egg
About 1 cup milk
Mix dry ingredients, combine wet ingredients - add two mixtures together, stirring until smooth. Pour into greased 8"x8" pan and bake at 425 for 20 minutes until golden.

I did not get nearly as much done as I wanted to. I did have a repair man here though.

one of our trusty standbys...chicken ceasar salad...we use baked chicken breast so the warm chicken sort of "melts" the shredded cheese...

I had fried catfish, zesty oven fries, coleslaw, and tapioca for my supper. I eat fairly early.

Smoked salmon with saltines and cream cheese. Put on a huge kettle of spaghetti sauce for spaghetti, ravioli and stuffed peppers for the next few days. Have a pot of stew meat on for beef barley soup, but it's just not getting tender like it should. It's been simmering 12 hours now and still so tough I can't even stick a fork in it. grrrr
