cofferred ceiling and 'proportions' which would look better?

We're building a house. In the small study (11'4" by 12'2"), we're putting in a coffer ceiling. On the blueprints: looking down the longest length of the room, the outside "boxes" are square while the inner row are rectangular. The outside perimeter molding is all the same size. In my mind, this looks weird. To me, it would make more sense to adjust the sizes of the outer molding so that the "boxes" could all be the same size. That make sense?

What's the best look? I might X-post this to the building forum to see what they say about the normal way to build this is.....

Thanks for your thoughts!

Tracey

Thanks!
