Thanks for the article. I'm almost discounting the Petfresh. He seems not so bad today and maybe because it is raining. We have the highest pollen counts right now and yesterday before the showers, the cars and porchs had a green film of tree pollen on everything. He's not sneezing or wheezing but is obsessed in licking and giving his legs tiny bites. No inflamation and no rashes and no bald spots. In fact his fur is shiny and healthy looking. Never had a dog exhibit these symptoms. We do have a well dog vet visit in a couple weeks.

Vacumme the heck out of your carpet, maybe shampoo it, and give him a bath. He was fine until you used Petfresh, eliminate that as a cause.

Use Febreeze to reduce pet smells and odors. DOnt spray directly on top of but over a bed like from a couple of feet, the spray will be just as effective. I think since you wrote about the petfresh you probably figured things out on your own...your pet is probably alleric. Good luck and Kudos to you for getting a rescue!!

Oh Dear,
He is itchy. Poor guy with itchy feet and eyes.
I feel for him. He might need a bath
and something for that itchy feeling.
But a bath will really help. He is licking
because it is soooo itchy. You could ask your
vet if he could take benedryl. Benedryl is okay
but it needs to be the plain version and only 1/2 a
pill for a Boston Terrier Size.
I would confirm with your vet first. This may be
a one time allergy to the perfume in the petfresh
baking soda. I hope so because that is easy to solve.

Poor guy. You might have to just use plain
arm n hammer backing soda without the pefume
next time you clean. And I have a feeling
he will do this with Fabreeze unless you use
the allergy spray version.

Bostons have buggy looking eyes to begin with
so I bet he is really suffering with this allergic
reaction. Please know I say the eye comment
with the utmost love for Bostons. I used to have one.

Thanks for your concern. I gave him a bath and he is doing okay now. He is half Boston but luckily has the build and coloring ..black brindle and white but his face is the face of a Sheltie, his other half. He has a pointy nose and sheltie eyes, not bulging ones and he doesn't have his mouth open often. He's super smart. If you had Boston's maybe you know how smart they are. I know nothing about them, but he's a great pet.

Use some oatmeal shampoo, and definitely don't use that PetFresh stuff or the febreze. My dog is hyper sensitive to all that stuff. We used febreze and my dog licked his paws for two days after. Hasn't done it since.

Thanks for the advice. I will not be using any more freshening products. I didn't even need to but had this in my pantry. Used to use it when I had a cat who peed places she shouldn't have. All my pets have no odor and thankfully there is no more peeing going on. That cat died over a year ago. I used a doggy shampoo from the vet with a baby powder smell, and his fur smells wonderful and is silky. After all, he IS my baby so he should smell like one. .
