Hand pull what you can and (and hope it hasn't seeded yet) and use a pre-emergent in the spring. Not worth trying to kill now, its going to die soon anyway.

If you want your grass to get fertilizer in the spring, apply it in the spring. Slow release fertilizer will be wasted on your dormant grass throughout the winter and early spring. The late fall drop benefits your roots and carbohydrate storage, but it needs to get to the plant before soil temps drop too low, when the grass plant is totally dormant. Also your lawn doesn't need a lot of nitrogen in early spring. Most people recommend your first big nitrogen drop for cool season grass around labor day. Organics provide a slow and steady source of nitrogen in the early spring, as well as beneficial organic matter, so you might want to try that early next spring.

Cindy, I didn't have your exact symptoms, but I have had a lot of trouble sleeping over the past few years. A few weeks ago I decided to look at controllable physical reasons, and I cut out all caffine and spicy foods after 1 p.m., and now make sure I don't eat a heavy meal after 6. Then, I looked at possible external reasons and decided to stop watching TV in my bedroom, and I started playing relaxation CD's at night at a very low volume (downloaded to itunes and played continuously throughout the night on my computer). I find that I don't toss and turn all night like I used to, and the music helps me drift off very quickly. I think the ocean sounds and the sound of rain and soft music help me fall asleep more quickly and keep me from waking up. I feel much more refreshed in the morning than I have in years. Just a thought. Hope this helps. Good luck. This is very frustrating, Isn't it?

Glad your kitty is safe. How scary for both of you! I had my own (mis)adventure with a kitty today. We've got a stray who has adopted us, he's a real lover kitty and lets me pick him up to snuzzle. But today i picked him up next to the washer as it was filling-the water must have startled him because he did a number on me! He got my cheek and my neck & chest. It stung quite a bit-luckily I was wearing glasses or I'd have had eye damage no doubt! But it was my fault-I got a little too comfy with him. He must have learned because later when he went to grab me (he grabs your arm to get attention) I said sharply NO and he pulled back his claws. We still love him tho! We've named him Cheddar Montgomery. We estimate he's just over a year old-he'll go in to the vet soon for neutering & shots and a claw trim!
