I got a email from Maria or Marie, can't remember, from Russia asking me if I remember her? Hate to click on it because of virus, but I kind of remember her email name/address.

Just curious

Sounds like you've opened it already, not that it makes that much difference. I wouldn't download any attachments without scanning and depends on what email you use, but I use Yahoo for a lot of things and they're pretty good about scanning for viruses. Set your settings to read it in text rather than HTML and you're far safer for reading email and not having "plants" grow.

You seem to recognize the person so I would go ahead and check a little closer. It's not like it's something totally strange to you.

Another option is something like PopPeeper. Set to text only and read the email through there. You have very little to fear opening a email in a text only mode.

Another option is use a disposable account and respond to see if you know the person or not. If it's trash, it'll go to the junk account rather than the account you use more often.

I am not saying it was threatening...I was "annoyed" it started out that they had "seen it for sale"...That was my only thing that really bothered me. I can't stand something starting out as a lie. Had it not mentioned it had been for sale. I may not have though anything other than it a compliment. That said...it did annoy me that I received an email from someone here stating my tree was for sale. If ones find that it wrong that it annoyed me the emailer started with a lie...then, I guess I may have had to strong of morals from truths and lies. But...it did offend me. I didn't name the emailer...in this thread. So I am not really pointing fingers at an individual. Just wanting ones to know...be honest. Don't start out saying untruths. The untruths are annoying.

I live in Orange County but go to San Diego a few times a year. How old is your daughter? Depending on the day and time of day, Knott's is a little over 2 hours drive from downtown San Diego. But it is a fun (and educational) park and even if she is very small, the regular rides outside of Camp Snoopy will work. There are only a handful of fast roller coasters there. All you have to do is blink and you will find great Mexican food. They are all over. Old Towne is a good place to visit. I am not sure about Indian in SD. The water will be too cold to go swimming, but you have to go to the beach just to go and to walk around. Be careful about collecting sea shells. Technically, it is against the law to remove any shells from the beach, but if you're quiet about it I wouldn't worry about getting into any trouble. Last weekend I went to Laguna and picked up a bunch of beautiful tumbled sea glass and I kept 3 shells that were really unique. I am not sure which beaches in SD are known for having a lot of shells, but you'd be sure to find some along the water line even on beaches that don't have many shells. It is my understanding that the daylily rust was brought in by the nursery trade, in a situation where quarantine was (inadvertently or otherwise) not exercised properly. Bringing seeds in is more of a worry if the seed is a weed species, or if the seed itself is dirty - contaminated by bacterial or insect pests. There are very few diseases that will be brought in with clean seed. Importing plants is a much higher disease risk. I agree though, that we should not encourage those people who might be trying to avoid the normal, legal methods of plant importation.... just because they want a particular plant. Re importing stuff in containers - we bought slate in castlemaine, that had been imported from india. The crates are supposed to be inspected before leaving india, but the crate previous to ours contained live lizards (hitchhikers) and when we finally got our slate, there was a dirty knife in the crate all the way from india. They are truly slack, and it is amazing that we don't have far more problems that we do.

Me too. I don't know how you knew it was through GW. Although from the fact that we all received it, there has to be a connection as this is the only place that has my mail address. Actually I didn't mind (I'm more offended by all the drug/investment/bank spoofs I'g getting where they scramble their addresses every time and they are impossible to block) though I would not have dipped into the links provided.

Not sure which email program you use, but if I get an email I question, I just right click (highlight) on it, go down to Properties, Choose Details at the top of the window that opens, then go down and click on "Message Details"...and read it from there...without actually opening it!
