Very pretty sun. The sunflower has a little added attraction. There were a whole bunch of them in my garden the other day. I didn't know they eat sunflowers. Everyone here feeds them thistle seeds.

That is exactly why I grow sunflowers, just to see the birds eating the seeds. Great pic.

kid: I'd say you should be OK in your high tunnel. They say it starts to ripen in August in CA. My greenhouse runs 2-3 weeks ahead of Fresno which is the standard climate for most DWN harvest charts. I finished harvest of Flavor Treat and Flavor Finale today but they have been 20+ brix for some time. To fully utilize your high tunnel you will need heat in spring to ward off late frost. My trees bloom late January to early March. It depends on how you manage the ventilation after chilling. But you could have bloom in Febr if you want. My apricot harvest starts at about the time of last frost outside so I have a lot of late winter and spring nights where heat is needed. I never heat except to avoid freeze damage.

Lovely room. Nice details. You were on the right track with the vases, but they are not the correct size and the branches are a swing and a miss IMO. If you think you can keep this 'corn plant' alive as they take relatively low light and this area would work. If you cannot, then consider this faux tree from Amazon. I have two in my home. Having been in the silk plant business decades ago I am extremely particular about faux trees. This is a great one. If you don't want to purchase a plant then perhaps a black pedestal with a piece of glass art on top. I saw a Finch- I guess that's what it was- it looked like the one in your picture. It was eating the seeds on my Rudbekia, which must be a type of sunflower. I had planned to cut them down, they look so ratty, but decided to leave them as long as they could be eaten by the birds.

Very nice sun pic and capture of gold finch on your sunflower...We have lots of them this year...They seem to like the cosmos alot, too...
