I have three of one and six of the other. What are the differences? Tamora has 10x the prickles. They both have the myhrr scent, Ambridge's is sweeter and more delicate. Tamora's is edgier, sharper. Tamora produces several new basals every year and can form a decent thicket (though not invasive) to evoke perhaps a bit of Gallica heritage. Ambridge I get a new basal or two every year to 18 months. More of a floribunda. They both bloom great, though Tamora will be a little more persistent bloomer into late fall than Ambridge. Height, Ambridge is slightly shorter and more narrow than Tamora. Tamora has canes that mature to a reddish-brown while Ambridge's remain quite apple green. Here they are mixed in together--can you tell them apart? Not the greatest photos, that was my old camera. Ambridge has a slightly more pastel shade, slightly cooler than Tamora. Tamora will lean a little bit more towards orange (though they are very close in color). Tamora has more petals. The flowers last maybe one day longer than Ambridge. Ambridge has a open cupped shape. Ambridge gets rustier here, but manageable. Neither bloomed much at all when they were baby plants, but now there are always flowers on both.

Susan-- I've grown quite a few Austins and have planted more in clients' gardens. I'm not as in touch with new releases from the last 4 years. I was a garden designer but I've been full-on teaching for 6 years and mothering a toddler. Tamora is an earlyish Austin but still one of my very favorites. I could post 1000 photos of her. She is gorgeous at every stage of bloom and always appears to glow from within. Her color is saturated enough to grab attention but soft enough to blend with just about any other shade of anything. She grows to a modest size and is easy to site. Then there's her scent.... Tamora is one of a handful of roses that is always fragrant for me. The only downside is that she's not so much long-lasting in a vase. Maybe a couple of days? My apologies that I droned on. I really am enthusiastic about this rose! Mlle. Melanie-- Oh, yes! Isn't the fragrance just the bomb? Carol

OMG Harryshoe - what a beautiful bush! Light peachy/apricot is my favorite rose color, so I have wanted Tamora for a while. Your pictures have inspired me as to what good care will do for this rose. I also am curious about her scent, which many love but some hate, evidently. Your garden looks immaculate too - sigh, I have much to strive for. Thanks to everyone who shares my joy over finding hidden treasures in the oddest places. Yes, I was not happy to find our expensive nurseries are just potting up bare roots - same thing we can do here - so while I will buy potted roses it is very rare I will pay full price. I could mail order but I usually only do that for specialty items, like minis and my one own root Lemon Spice (which hasn't performed all that well for $25). The few times I have struck gold at Walmart - the plant quality was impressive - I have a very nice "New Year" from them that has a delicious tangerine color (too bad it gets BS, but does re-leaf out fast.) Greenhaven, I am very intrigued by Ebb Tide, I would try her if I can find her cheap, some people here seem to think she is great - other times it seems her performance is unimpressive?

Yes on About Face, check if it fades pink after the bloom is spent. You can post a pic after the bloom is spent, as About Face fades bigtime it should be easy to recognize, still a great rose worth having. Also, no on Tamora, but I don't know what it is.
