Marketing for the Birds!

Has anyone received the most recent mail order "issues" of Williams Sonoma or Sur la Table? Both have major cover snafus - as in I can't believe they made it out the door.

Williams Sonoma features the golden glistening turkey on the cover. My understanding is that in order to make the bird still appear "plump" and luscious they only roast the outer 1/4 inch or so. But you're NOT supposed to know this. The cover shows the carving knife cutting away the first wonderful slice of breast meat, only to reveal a RAW turkey below the 1/4 inch of cooked meat!! Yuck! How could they miss that?

Then Sur la Table arrives last night and they too have the lovely turkey on the cover. By its side is the carving knife and fork perfectly placed and aligned. They decided to make it look like they had already been used, so they placed droplets of turkey juice here and there on the carving knife. It just looks bizarre because the bird has not been cut into yet.

Who's editing these covers?! Neither one of them made me want to eat turkey. Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday and should be the start of the major shopping season for these two companies. Getting the Thanksgiving covers wrong should make some feathers fly!
