so I don't have to upload. Haven't posted for awhile, got a new grandchild, been a tough time, here goes.

Sarah my granddaughter who has a new baby half brother 22 years younger than herself, father spent the day in jail yesterday, that isn't the half of it, will say no more on that. This one somebody with great skills enhanced for me, I still can't get it as nice as he did.

Here is Sarah at a baby shower with her hair dyed black, she's going back to blonde. I think.

Here is a stray kitty I was feeding and had just started letting me pet her, and has disappeared, fear she has come to a bad end. Oh, and that's a pussywillow I planted late this spring. I wanted to photograph some pussywillows, nobody knew where there were any around here, so I ordered this one. I named the kitty "Pussywillow" because she laid here all one afternoon looking so sad, and my kids had a little golden book by that name about a kitty when they were little.

I like to take candids of people. This guy was getting his picture taken by someone else. Somebody said it was garbage lol. Pro type, I was a little miffed, now laugh about it. It was a series of three, the guy taking the photo, this one called "Subject", and the two of them looking at the camera lcd in playback mode.

Finally I'll throw in my skyline night photo which isn't the best. Nope, I'll have to do that one over sometime, not sure how to set it up better.

I have a nice sheep photo and sailboat at sunset but don't feel like uploading them, not sure where they are, should be counting sheep now. Will that do for a bedtime story? Somebody likes my stories.

Excellent photos, "garbage" or not - ha. I hope all ends well with the things giving you trouble. Grab the camera, drive somewhere and take some photos, it might take your mind off things. It does for me.

We installed a similar vent-a-hood (48" with 900 cfm triple blower fan), and you will definitely need to do some work on your ceiling. We installed in a 1 story house, and we were using the vent-a-hood liner, not the stand-alone housing. They built a decorative plenum above the range (cathedral ceiling) and recessed the hood liner up into the plenum. The ducting then connected straight up to a vent through the attic and to the roof. I believe that the unit you picked is actually two 600 cfm dual fans that each require an 8 inch duct. You can then use a duct combiner (about 17" tall) to bring them together into a single 12" duct. The centerline of each 8" duct is about 11" away from the centerline of the hood. Do you plan to build any type of decorative plenum/trim above the hood to get the hood to the correct height over the range? If so, that could give you some working room for ducting options. The option I am considering is whether you could use two 8" ducts, but jog one over so you could run them between two adjacent floor joists or one above the other (hidden by a plenum). It still requires removing quite a bit of ceiling, but will fit well with typical joist spacing. The other choice is to run each 8" duct a different direction along the joist, but you will probably run into a load bearing wall in one of the directions. The other option is to look at the floor above to see if you could route the 12" duct (or two 8" ducts) vertically. If you could grab space from a closet or the corner of a room, you could run the duct(s) straight up and out the roof. The code requirement for make-up air when a fan moves more than 450 cfm is a relatively new requirement. If your city follows code, you will have an added expense for an automatic make-up air vent that opens when you run the exhaust. However, I installed a 600 cfm fan during renovation of my current house in 2014 and the inspector never even mentioned make-up air, so YMMV. Removing and replacing sheetrock ceilings is messy, and looks bad when its out, but its really very straightforward construction work that does not require a licensed professional. This color is a nice neutral and I like the white trim that make the details of this room pop. Before deciding on the pieces, I would think more about the configuration of the room. I love that you are not putting a TV in here and will use it for reading instead. I suggest making a sitting area near the back windows because it lets in so much natural light. It will be a perfect place to read during the day without having to depend on lamps as much. And, it creates its own space that does not depend on the red or sea foam color influence. For a back of the room reading area, I would: 1. Define the space with a rug. I'd go for something neutral that blends more with the room instead of using the rugs you chose that are such an intense contrast. What about jute with a dark grey binding for texture, or a trellis pattern but not as contrasting as the navy and white you chose? 2. Get an upholstered cushion made for the built in bench under the window. Such a great reading nook, looks maybe big enough for two to snuggle and read! Nice soft window treatment, and maybe sconces or art hung on either side of the window. Toss your current sofa pillows over there to start to give you an idea of that as soft hang out space. 3. I like the idea of putting the sofa in front of the window with a coffee table in the middle and two grey Pottery Barn chairs across from it, facing the sofa. The only problem is that your sofa is pretty high in the back and I don't know how it would look to have it cutting off the bottom of the windows. It is free to move around furniture so give it a try! 4. Going with more neutral colors - tan, grey, beige, maybe a hint of navy and pops of rust means you should throw in some texture to the equation. That can come from a jute rug, fluffy blankets, and shiny objects. (Mercury glass objects?) Plus maybe a coffee table that has some texture of reflective quality. Here are some ideas for the back reading space: Rute rug, gray border Patterned rugs that have grey and other colors Examples of living room window seats: For the middle and front space, I have a few different ideas, but would like to hear more about what you need as a function of this room. Do you have any furniture you own and are looking for a different space to house it in? Do you need more storage for any particular kind of item? (Boots, purses, backpacks?) Do you have a home office or need space for that kind of work?

Your soil looks fine in that photo.......lots of perlite and can't really overwater it. When you water try not to wet the actual crown/leaves of the plant (just the soil/roots), and water on the morning of a bright day. These are both more applicable in winter. Your biggest problem growing that plant was lack of light. Unfortunately those etiolated/stretched leaves will not heal or turn normal. Assuming the crown is healthy, and growing conditions remain good, it will eventually produce another normal pup or two. Keep it under good growing conditions. You may just want to buy a new plant and grow in the better conditions you are providing now.

Your story hits home. I know how you feel and it hurts. Mine is not exactly the same but there are similarities on both my husband’s side with his mother and me with my mom and siblings. I’m finally facing up to some realities now. Your mom has real issues that she never dealt with. Is your cousin’s mom around? Does your mom possibly feel some duty to stand in for her? All of that still doesn’t explain or excuse your mom’s behavior. I’m sorry. Hang in there. Your mom is missing out. It’s a mistake.

I always shoot several at different apertures and shutter speeds if I get a chance, that skyline was the best one overall, but some had deep reflections in the water I liked. Problem is that it is so easy to blow reds on night photos if you don't expose correctly, you get yellow instead with a red outline! I've just seen too many night photos shot by others that blew me away.

Reds give me trouble all the time. Next time when your out shooting the skyline bring down the saturation level a bit, or even just bring down the red level. Can you adjust the Kelvin level on your White Balance. I would try toying with those to see what happens. Just a thought.

Aliska I am the one who enjoys your stories, or one of the ones I should say. I adore your photography skills also. thanks for taking the time to show us your pictures. Would love to see some baby pics. Your granddaughter is beautiful with that red rose behind her, what rose is that???? The skyline is beautiful.

Joe, thanks for the comments, I'll check my saturation, in camera setting, notice that I am having to desaturate the red channel in post processing. Now I would like to learn what is blowing the reds on the right and blues on the left, it shows up in a lot of histograms, even though a lot of photos don't have red or blue in them, all pictures are a mixture of red, blue, and green I think. I'll have to work with that, you can fix it in PS with channels, but I don't know how to do that very well and want to get it right out of the camera if I can. It could be a quirk of my camera or the lens I use the most.

gmom74, thank you so much. She's been a wonderful granddaughter; I practically raised her. She always minded, was and is such a good girl, never sneaked around, always called, etc. She went through a phase, but still always checked in. My own three were such a handful, the girls were terrors when they got to be teenagers and I had a lot of trouble with them, my son was a little better, but when he hit 19, some serious problems came along. I'd better not say too much more because this is not the place for it. It is just a very difficult time now, without photography and my gardening as an escape, I don't know what I would do, am on meds and they only half work.

Valerie, thanks about my "stories". I always kind of like to know a little of the story behind photos, context, etc. I'll post a couple baby pics on a new thread for you.

I shouldn't string so many pics in one because if you want to chat later, they take too long to reload.
