Green?

I've been enjoying the Theme of the Week and thought we might be able to play with colors the same way. This isn't meant to replace the weekly theme (I can hardly wait to see what the next theme will be!) but to be another thread where we can all post.

Any photo will do here, as long as the overall impression is the color "GREEN". Any shade, any shape.

Maybe something like a grouping of 3 columnar hornbeams would work. I use these frequently in designs for privacy screening as they are available in a decent size already for a modest cost, grow pretty rapidly, do not take up much real estate and are less oppressive than a planting of coniferous evergreens. I favor Carpinus betulus 'Frans Fontaine', which comes highly recommended for this area by Great Plant Picks. Readily available at 10-12' to begin with, should hit 20' within 5 years. And stays quite tight and narrow...the crown seldom wider than 10'. And while they are deciduous, the have such a dense, upward growing branch structure they provide decent screening even when leafless in winter (and when privacy concerns are less pressing). Bright gold fall color and virtually NO pest or disease issues. btw, I used 3 of these for fenceline screening in a back garden one quarter the size of yours!! On their second year, they have already put on about 18" of growth and the client loves them!

Unfortunately Houzz's exterior search engine is not working now, because there is a beautiful dark green house there. It seems that the actual colors available in an area are much more limited than the vast array of colors in their color chart. Have you checked what is available? My two top colors are Evergreen Forest and Imperial Green. I also like Oregon Trail. Forever Green has a gray brown cast to it and I never saw Hunter Green look like black. This is pretty, but not the one I'm looking for. This is Essex Green from Benjamin Moore, but It might have been custom mixed.

Why did my bright green oxalis turning dark green?

When I first bought this plant last year it was bright green... Over the year it turned this dark green with purple color under the leaves. Does it need a rest period to turn bright green again?? Please help!

Yellow-green, or chartreuse, like BM Stem Green that @Jinx posted, is a cheerful color! I would not pick a very muted (grayed) green for a young child’s room. It’s interesting that your son has a strong opinion about color at such a young age. Does he like to draw and paint?
