What's for dinner Sunday?

It's been cold and windy all day. High of 56 and going to get down in the high 20's tonight (which I doubt, because our newspaper is always wrong). But it will be cold so I have that apple oatmeal that Harry liked so much in the crockpot.

Tonight for dinner we're having ham, baked sweet potatoes and peas with pearl onions.

Smoked Turkey Breast, Melted Brie & Swiss Cheese, Spinach, Mushrooms, Tomato, Grilled Golden Brown with a Side of Fresh Dill Horseradish Sauce

HI Patti, it is in the low 70's here.

I will be fixing DH spagetti, with sweet/hot Italian sausage,
I will have plain sauce with tortellini~~~I will make us each a small salad to go with it.

Very lazy day here~~~

Kittiesmom, here is the recipe. Sharon didn't include a name, so I named it... Lima Beans Sharon KT 1 pkg of frozen Fordhook Lima Beans 1 small onion. diced finely 1 sm. jar of chopped pimentos-drained 1/2 cup sour cream-room temp 1 stick butter Melt butter in a saute pan & add the onions & pimentos..gently cook until tender. Meanwhile, cook the limas per pkg directions, & drain. Add the hot limas to the onion mixture. Gently stir in the sour cream & add salt & pepper to taste-don't be stingy w/the seasoning. You can add a little more butter if you care to, at this point. NOTE: This dish must be prepared just before dinner-serve immediately once you add the sour cream. DELISH!!! It is definitely DELISH!!! I gave my DD a "sample" of it today, and she loved it and asked for the recipe. I see Sharon has posted a recipe for Super Delish Baked Pork Chops. Can't wait to try that. Thanks, Sharon. Sue

I roasted a small turkey yesterday and we wanted to have baked sweet potatoes. I've never baked sweet potatoes, I usually boil them along with white and mash them together. So I pricked the sweet potatoes, stuck them in the oven and later when I checked there was caramel pooled and stuck to my (thankfully) aluminum oven liner on the bottom of the stove. I cleaned it up then set the potatoes in a baking dish in the oven. When we were ready to eat there was caramel around the potatoes, but there was still lots of meat left in the potatoes and they were delicious. I can only assume that they don't need to be pricked before baking!

Shirley, that coney dog is calling me! Glad the snow and ice are gone so you can get out and about! Jasdip, did your team win? I haven't been keeping up with the Olympics. My bad! I had 5 large baking potatoes that needed to be used so I made them into twice-baked potatoes. Baked the potatoes, scooped out the pulp, mashed it with butter, milk and sour cream. Added shredded cheddar, sliced green onions chopped parsley and some chopped bacon. Topped with more cheese and bacon. Put them on a cookie sheet and they are in the freezer before being stored in bags and run through the Food Saver. They sure look pretty! Sue, glad you are able to get out again. Lunch sounds great. Little Alyssa will soon be a 3-year old. It's a great age. I've never had Captain D's but it looks a lot like Long John Silvers. Glenda, I really like Thai coconut soup, but the rest of your meal sounds even better.

Oh, we just watched the rest of Season 1 of Last Tango in Halifax, so I haven't come back to comment on anyone's dinners. I've got tears in my eyes. We love that show. But wow is Jillian one screwed-up woman. Raven, I buy the large old-fashioned ham with a bone that's wrapped in netting. Boil it for about 4 hours and put potatoes and green beans in with it. Lots of ham leftover for future meals. Hubby is looking forward to ham and french toast or pancakes. Neither of us like ham soup, split pea and ham and other similar soups. I'm hoping to make a quiche as well, and hubby said he would try it.

We still have to go grocery shopping so will probably just pick up something done so I don't have to cook and put up groceries. Maybe a rotisserie chicken.

Hi Patti,
Cold here today. Hubby and I went for a walk and he wore a toque and gloves, which he seldom does. I wear that as well as a knitted scarf and my coat zipped up to my nose!

Today was bread-making day. I made 2 loaves of Honey Whole Wheat. Dinner was brown rice, carrots and onions baked in the oven in chicken broth. We also had boiled cabbage (LOVE cabbage) and boneless pork chops.

That looks so good, Jasdip! I'm just having leftover pea soup and DH is having leftover chicken Moran. I have to get the refrigerator cleaned out besides today I ran around getting loose ends tied up before leaving on Wed. (we're going to FL. Patti) I finished my packing, just have to pack a few kitchen things that I like to bring. Tonight I have to bake some cookies and make a dip for tomorrow night. I have Mexican train here. One of the ladies is gluten free so I thought I'd make some chocolate chip meringue cookies and another lady has many allergies one is to preservatives so I got some potato chips....that will serve the gluten free problem as well, but I have to make some kind of dip from scratch. Found one on line using Greek yogurt, sautÃÂ©ed green onions, garlic and some spices that should fit the bill.

Tonight I had a salmon patty, macaroni and cheese, and steamed broccoli.

Jasdip, that plate of food looks very good.

If I can hold out a few more days, our cold snap (which has been going on for a long time) will give way to days in the 40s and (gulp), maybe, in the low 50s. I won't know how to act.

I had planned on fresh green beans cooked with ham and potatoes. Cooked it all up, then decided to save it for Tuesday when my daughter and a friend will be here for dinner. It was always a favorite of the kids when growing up.
So it was DiGiorno pizza and a nice big salad for us tonight.

I made omelets with baby spinach, mushrooms and feta cheese. Sliced tomatoes on the side. Robert added a couple of sausage links, too.

That looks delicious, Jasdip. We love cabbage too, as long as it isn't over cooked and yours looks perfect.

I had a hot dog wrapped in a piece of bread, with some mustard on it.
