Welcome back; you were missed. I am sorry to read about your recent problems. I remember reading and seeing that you had a lovely luncheon with some KTers. My sister also suffers with short term memory loss and I know it is frustrating. I hope your health will continue to improve.

Missed your name. It's such a pretty one. I hope spring is around the corner for you and will help lift your spirits with its bright colours and pretty sounds.

Laura, you certainly were missed and glad to see you again. I have a friend who has had the same treatments you are having and she too had memory loss. The good news is she has recovered her memory and is doing quite well. It has been a long haul for her but she really is so much better. I know you will be too. You need to be patient and give yourself healing time. Your body has been through a lot. Please take care of yourself. You have many friends here

Oh, Laura....I am so sorry that you are going through this. Do the treatments seem to help? I know of someone who went through a long period of treatments but now had recovered to the point where she no longer has them. She doesn't work anymore, either. I expect that she would encourage you to apply for disability.

It's a very good sign that you're feeling better. Enjoy the spring! We've missed you around here. You and your red cowboy boots!

That sounds like an ordeal, but I hope it pays off for you. Glad to hear you sounding upbeat and the same as always.

God bless you! My mother went through these treatments back in the early 70's, when it was a horrid treatment. Hopefully the treatments will get you back on track real soon!

The treatments of today are not horrid ones like back in the 70's. Today they put you to sleep first. I go in they start an IV and then it is lights out...I don't even see my dr. unless they have trouble hitting a vein. My veins tend to roll and dive, that is why I look like some junkie...pretty much from the elbows down I am a bruise on both arms....

Glad you are back and feeling better! I'm not here very often but often enough to miss you.

Oh, heck....my veins are like that. What a pain in the you know what! I hug those who have advanced skills or good luck when I need to be punctured. I had one very talented person who swore she saw the good vein from the doorway. She was right!

In 2005 my son suffered a traumatic brain injury. It did a number on his short-term memory. Once he was healed enough to go out and about on his own, he too was afraid of not being able to find his way home.

It was probably 2008 or 2009 when GPS became common purchases. We got one for him and programmed "Home". What a freeing thing that was. He could go to a local store without fearing that he'd get lost.

I bring this up only as a suggestion that might work for you, as well. If you know you can get yourself to and from A grocery store or Wal Mart, you'll feel so much better about things.

We have GPS on our car, but I don't know how to work it...that would really push me over the edge if I were lost and then couldn't work the GPS to get home...

Just found out that Thursday I am having shots in my back...and the ECT on Wednesday. Thank goodness that Molly is off to take me..

Is a common side effect of shock therapy. I had a friend who had them
also. She didn't return to work. She retired early. Eventually everything
Returned to normal. Hang in there!! We are rooting for you!! (((HUGS)))

Welcome back, Laura! I hope you are feeling much better soon.

I'd like to make a suggestion about your gps. Have someone set up the "Go Home" setting for you, then write down the 2 or 3 steps it takes to get to that. Then tape it to your dashboard. I can imagine how frightening it must feel to not be sure you will remember how to get home! I know that's only half of the problem, but I guess it's the most important half.
