If you are going to take the trees out right away, you can cut those grapes down and they will survive. I wouldn't take them to the ground. If you leave a couple of feet of vine, that short a bit will be pretty easy to untangle. If you aren't taking the trees down right away, leave the vines and see what they produce. Whether or not you like the grapes is going to make a difference in how you treat the vines. It sounds to me like the first step is to get the ivy under control. The trees might possibly be something to save. You won't know until you get them unburied and determine what they are and give them some pruning and care. Who knows, maybe those are fruit trees. I wouldn't automatically assume that grapes in a once cultivated garden gone out of control would be wild grapes. They could very easily have been deliberately planted back in the days when the garden was tended. I bought a place that had been abandoned for 6 years. The surviving plants were in bad shape, but I babied them just to see what I had. They looked like garbage, but some time in the past, someone was a pretty good gardener and most of the plants turned out to be excellent. It took some serious work to bring them back, but it was worth it. 2 completely "dead" bushes turned out to be gorgeous hardy hibiscus that have flowers for 6 months solid. 3 "dead" fruit trees are bearing fruit for me. An unidentifiable tangled mess of dead twigs is now a sweet-smelling honeysuckle. Clean up first, then stand back and take stock.

Discover is the only credit card I use. Actually I have two of them. One is the gas card to get 5% back and the other is for normal purchases. I just got the new card and called to activate it. You talk to people in Utah. I've had it since they came out. They used to be Shopper's Charge. You can choose from different options on the cash back. I just go for cash rather than air miles, double credit at certain stores, etc. It's credited to an escrow monthly and when you reach $20 you can have it credited to the account, which is what I do, or get it direct deposited to your bank account or a check mailed to you. There's other options too. I keep it simple, apply the credit when I can. I use it for bill paying and yes you get credit since it's a purchase. Paypal purchases charged to it qualify for the credit too. I pay my phone bill with Discover card and get the credit. I pay online as many bills as possible. Anything that gets charged gets the cashback bonus. However, and rightly so, refunds are deducted. I've had terrific service from Discover. There's been several times they've contacted me when there was suspicious activity. They caught Target charging me for a computer I didn't purchase and they took care of it and it never even showed on my account. There was another time when they caught someone trying to charge to my account. They've really been on top of things for me. I did have a problem for a while where I didn't get the bills. I called them and they credited me the late fees and interest and admitted they had been having problems with lost/misdirected mail. What more can you ask for? It's also such a relief when you do need to call, to know you'll be able to understand the person you're talking to! Very, very few places will not take Discover, and I won't shop anyplace that doesn't when they take credit cards. There's no reason to not take it. I've been in business so I know some of the scams certain outfits are putting out there.

Oh wow, that's quite a long time to water a fake plant! Makes me think of back in December I was looking at Christmas decorations in Walmart. There were several tiny artificial trees and way up on the top shelf (of course) was a cute little tree , well formed and so real like. I thought how cute it would be in the middle of my dining room table with small lights, etc. I tried to get it over to the edge so I could grab it as I was determined to buy it. I love the small artificial trees! Finally had to go get someone to get it down and was so happy when they handed it to me......but then I seen the soil....and couldn't believe it! It was the only one like that and how it got in with all the artificial stuff I don't know. Needless to say, I didn't buy it but had to laugh at myself after going through all that! LoL
