I want to share my GREAT experience buying knobs and pulls

Hi, I looked at so many pulls and knobs for what seemed like forever for our new cabs, but couldn't find any I liked. They were either way too expensive or just not the style I was looking for. So a few weeks ago, I went online to a website called Your Home Supply that was suggested by another poster asking if anyone had had any luck with this company, and I found ORB pulls with matching knobs in a style called "country cabinet." My decor isn't "country," but they were so pretty that I fell in love with them. I agonized over buying them for weeks because they were SO inexpensive (2 bucks and some change a piece) that I figured they'd be light in weight and nothing like they looked like online. I decided to order them figuring the worst that would happen is I'd have to send the back, and they came today, and I just LOVE them! They are heavy and beautiful exactly like they look on the website! Just what I wanted. And SO cheap!!!! Anyway, I wanted to pass this on because why spend tons of $$$ on hardware when there are great deals out there. I just wanted to pass this on to anyone who is still looking for their pulls.

P.S. They look and feel just like ones I ordered years ago on knobs.com for $20 a piece. Now, they are zinc and not brass...but who cares???

thanks dd70. are you planning on installing them soon and can update on the stopper? I assume from what you posted, that they do have the stop. As far as the finish, is the copper similar to the ORB color Amerock has? A smooth dark finish (not rust or patina'd) with a little copper showing though? I'm using at least 4 different types of hardware and need to coordinate somehow, but the style you chose is gorgeous. You're right about the Top Knobs-no stops on the bail pulls (what are they thinking???) Other than what you chose, I am basically stuck with the birdcage bail pulls, and while they are OK, your style is much more elegant. Plus, I am not a fan of the pulls that match the birdcage.

Yes, the countertops are white Corian and they are in excellent shape. We have about 95 square feet of counters. Our realtor has strongly discouraged us from changing them based on comparisons to others in our neighborhood. He also said that in his experience whatever sellers have whether it is a solid surface material, stone or other, that 9 times out of 10 clients comment that it's not to their taste and they deduct the cost of changing it in their offers anyway. All of the houses in our neighborhood were built with laminate except for the 10% or so houses which were custom built and they all had Corian. Some of the homes have replaced their laminate with stone or other material. I forgot to answer another question earlier. The floors are site finished hardwood throughout all of the downstairs. We constantly get positive feedback on the floors. The only thing I can think of is that our kitchen is significantly larger than most in our neighborhood and it would be quite an undertaking to change it out any more than we already have. Maybe most buyers want to renovate to their taste and see ours as too big of a project. Unfortunately if I were to do the renovation for them, it still wouldn't be to their taste.

juddgirl2 - I have been on vacation and am now seeing this thread. Now I am traumatized by just reading it! Try putting a freshly cut apple in your sons desk drawers. Leave them inside for a few days. This little trick was giving to us by a car dealer to remove odors from cars. My daughters cat urinated on her back seat. We removed the seat cover and shampooed it, but the smell was still slightly detected. The apple worked, although my daughter forgot about it and it attracted fruit flies! segbrown - If you have the stomach, read my story about our outdoor grill. Beware...it is heart wrenching, but the grill lives on, even though it took several hose and dishwasher cleanings to be presentable for me to cook on. Thank you for the compliments athomesewing! All the drawer runners in the kitchen are from Blum, with self closing soft closing features. The only exception is the dog bowl drawer because as you know, the dogs like to push their bowls around especially when they eat wet food. I have contacted Blum and they told me they don't make any runners with lock out features. I was able to find two other manufacturers that make the type of runners I want. One is Acurride model 3607. It has full extension and lock out feature. This will allow you to open the door all the way out and it will stay open. But to close it, you have to press in a little tab on the side. I don't want to bend down every time I feed her. So I went with another brand: Knope & Vogt model number 8414 hold out drawer guide (it comes in length of 2" increments). It also has full extension feature. When you open the drawer all the way out, you can feel it locks at that position. You have to push it a little (harder than when you close a self closing drawer) and then it will close half way, where it will stop at another lock out position. To close it fully, you just have to push it again. And I can do all the pushing with my foot without bending down. Now, just this runner itself only takes care of the lock out feature. As you noticed, there is no knob or pull for that drawer. I want it to open when i push the drawer face with my foot (this feature is called "press on" in the Blum family). I have to ask my cabinet installer to add an ejector inside the door to make this happen. So basically I have to use 2 different maneuvers for that drawer. Even though my kitchen is obviously catered to my dog, I also want to make it universal enough that if I ever have to sell my house and the new owner has no pet, that dog bowl drawer can still be useable to him/her. So the piece of wood holding the two bowl (basically it is a rectangular piece of wood with two round holes to drop the metal bowls in) can be removed. Once that is gone, it is just a regular drawer. The dog decal is also removable if I ever want to get rid of the dog theme. Yup, I have spent weeks and weeks before coming up with all these. The Amish cabinet makers are really top notch. The cabinets are made of hard maple in factory painted colors. I could not say enough good things about them. They have 50 yr warranty in their product. catheemivelaz, amazing....I was just getting ready to do the exact same thing, i.e., come on here to recommend Your Home Supply. I have ordered all of my knobs and pulls from them, stretched out over four or five orders the last couple of months. When I first started using them, they had a very limited selection and I was lucky enough to find knobs and pulls that were just what I wanted in style. Mine were ORB but less than $2 each so I fully expected them to be cheapos and thus ordered just one of each to "test" them. The quality was so good I quickly placed my order expecting them all to be gone soon...but lo and behold when I went to order for the next room, the same thing happened. The last time I went on I noticed that their selection has grown a lot and some of the prices are higher than mine were but maybe they are still tremendous bargains. I later found some of my knobs at Home Expo 60% marked off and they were still more than Your Home Supply. I have found out that some of my knobs are by Alno and some are by House of Knobs; others I still don't know for sure. However, I can say that of the 5 different styles I've ordered, all of them have been excellent quality and the YHS service has been impeccable--and prompt. My cabinetmaker and GC were also impressed and my KD asked for the name for referrals...so I second your recommendation!

I also got my pulls from there. I ordered just one pull first to see the quality. I couldn't believe how nice they were for the price. You can't beat it! My kitchen has been functioning since July, and my pulls are great! I got the weathered pewter look. I ordered some extra in case I have to replace some in the future.

FYI - When I ordered some pulls/knobs as samples I found that the prices in their ebay store were higher than their web store. It was a minor increase, but it is something to watch out for-
