Hi Ginger, I am interested in your: Joe Pye Weed 'Little Joe' Gaillardia 'Amber Wheels' Helenium Coppelia Sidalcea 'Party Girl' Please look at my trade list and let me know if you would like to trade. I was also looking for info on your Dwarf Goldenrod 'Lauren' but couldn't find anything. Is it a long bloomer? Thanks for looking! Carol (Daisy Lee)

it gets huge. at least 5'. We had this exact conversation 2 years ago, but its gone now. I tried pinching mine early in the season as an experiment to keep the size in check, but it didn't work out. It delayed them way too long and they were too small. I divided and moved mine last fall to at least be in back of the border so the height didn't block out other things. And it is pretty and a butterfly magnet, but watch out! This is in August where the section on the left was not cut back. The two sections on the right were cut back. Not sure just when. Its written down somewehre.

Mine I'd say is about a week less advanced. My issue with getting uber growth on these is my deep digging, I enjoy turning the soil over to a good deep depth and removing stones and heavy clay, sometimes the plants say more than a "BIG" thank you! Is that the helianthus I spy? I lost mine in one of the few years we experienced winter wet, the ground remaining unfrozen and becoming saturated wet in late winter early spring, I lost several perennials then.

Most years mine have come up by now, and I swear they grow something like a foot in a week, it's crazy how fast they shoot up. This year pretty much everything is behind here in MI -- it's going to be May 1st tomorrow, and still no pulsatilla blooms (they haven't even budded up yet -- growth just started about a week ago), not even the dandelions yet! So be patient -- they're pretty tough plants and should be fine. With the warm-up predicted this week, things should start picking up speed.
