DUH. (do you ever feel like you make it harder than it is?)

Just had a DUH moment.

We've been sneaking Capone's meds by stuffing them in peanut butter on a treat but he got wise and started spitting the pills out, so we had to do the old force-feeding routine.

This morning it struck me that as quickly as he gobbles his little treats, it couldn't hurt to try. So I got him to sit, then shake, and popped a pill in his mouth. He was none the wiser. Gobbled it like it was a primo liver treat.

...So why didn't I try this *before* his LAST dose?

Aren't we funny?

We humans are so proud of our "big brains", but it takes us a while to get ahead of our dogs.

I hold my old guy's thyroid pills, make him look up, & handfeed them to him.

Well, I do it now.

Randy, Yes, they're all in shorts, too. We're on a little less than an acre, but I have a whole hillside (667 m tall or so) of public land that I live out do my Druidic tendencies, but the coyotes generally drown out my howls. Of course, with a black bear (who is very caramel in fur hue) also making walking a little interesting, I've cut that bit back. I do walk with the smaller of my two digging bars. Discretion from an Adenium grower? I'd heard that that existed... And I thank my country for the opportunity to have served. However, I was never shot at, so that might colour my thinking. I wouldn't say enjoying swimming is a fetish, would you? Now enjoying swimming in Jello might get one marked as a bit of a perv. What sort of Cyphostemmas do you grow? I've found the additions of large amounts of manure to the potting soil to be most efficacious. What say you? Charliedawg - that was funny about the toilets. I went yesterday with the builder to pick out the faucets and we ended up at Lowes. I talked the guy into giving us a discount on one of them because they had it marked two different prices. Then I asked him if he was giving us a 10% discount for buying so much stuff as we were. When the guy walked off to adjust the price the builder looked at me and said "I need to bring you shopping with me more often". LOL! We ended up not getting the Roman Tub faucet because I ran out to the car and looked it up on Ebay and I got it for $75 rather then $178! I was happy :-) I had planned on buying all of them on Ebay but we needed these ASAP. Anyway, seems things are really picking up and I LOVE it! I hope we are able to get most of the things picked out in the next week as DH will be gone and I (keeping fingers crossed) could be starting a new job in the next two weeks!!!! I am off to buy birthday presents. DD is turning 8 on Saturday and we are having a water slide party. DD invited the whole class and I am thinking holiday weekend, half the class will show up. NO!! They are all coming but ONE! I will need to have my head examined shortly. Kelly

LOL I haven't done that one. But I practically always will turn on a light switch when the power is off. Once I was at my mothers and her uncle and aunt were coming. We had a power outage, he had health problems, and I wanted the house to be nice and warm for them. So....I lined the back of the fireplace with aluminum foil to reflect the heat. It took me quite a while to do the job, got done and then took us a while to find the fan (to blow the heat out into the room) and then went to plug the fan in when it hit.....DUH....there IS no power. We about laughed ourselves silly. I probably spent 30 minutes on that project. LOL

Thank you all for your advice and pictures. I just LOVE them! After a weekend of being laid up again (fell off a machine at the gym and totally wrecked my back but am finally feeling a bit better now), I am hopingto get out there and prune this coming three day (can you say YEA!) weekend! Still on the fence about my climber as she is throwing out all sorts of laterals right now so this could be a good bloom year unlike prior years. She may have just had to have more time to come into her own. However, I am seeing that there are all sorts of little oak trees and other plants coming up through my rose bushes due to the mulch and birds. UGH! I may have lost my Sharifa Asma because of it if I can't pull them out. I have a feeling my garden is going to be very sparse this year due to a bunch of new roses going in to replace my old ones. Evelyn and Ambridge are reverting back to rootstock, so out they go. I have oak trees growing up in my Sharifa Asma as well as Evelyn, Mary Webb and now one of my Brother Cadfaels! I also have another unidentified bush growing up in my Peach Blossom. So it looks like I pretty much get to start from scratch all over again. Looks like an expensive year!

That only works on my dumb lab.

My very smart hound would never fall for it...he'd take it in his mouth and spit it out... he also would never swallow a treat whole... when given a treat, he takes it, spits it out, sniffs it and then eats it...

I sometimes have those DUH moments with all of my three dogs.

As far as hiding meds, I use chicken liver for all pills(my pup is difficult to pill, has to have them twice a day for the rest of her life). Anyway, I form boiled chicken liver around the pills. They don't even chew it, down the hatch every time.

I had a problem with a day care dog turning over the water bucket. Everyday they'd go all afternoon without water cause he'd turned it over.

Me, being smarter than a Lab wired the bucket handle to the faucet. Tada!

Came home, the backyard is flooding, the faucet is on full blast. How fun was that jerking that bucket around AND turning on the faucet?

Ok yes, it was a blonde moment.
