They are all very interesting but I like No. 2 best. What is it?

I really like he first and the last one best. The colors are so brilliant. May I ask where you took these pictures?

They are all beautiful. But, for my two cents, the second one seems to tell the "story" more completely (about where and what the artwork is).

If you are primarily trying to convey a beautiful sunset, then its seems mostly a matter of personal preference. All are very pretty in that regard.

The sculpture is called "Sólfar" (Sun Voyager). It's supposed to be a sort of an essence of a viking ship, but some think it looks more like a giant insect. It's in Reykjavík, Iceland. Most photographs you see of it are taken in daylight with a blue sky as a backdrop, but I wanted to do something different and using the sunset plays on the title of the piece.

I like the second one best. It is gorgeous.

Thanks for the info. How interesting. But, now that you have told me the title of the sculpture, I would go with pic one. It looks like it is about to sail right off into the sun in that one.

And, you are right, the name of the sculpture really helps set off the photos and vice versa.

Well I'm torn. Number one gives more of a sense of movement, perhaps because it continues beyond the borders of the photo. It feels like it is about to sail off.
While number two seems more clearly to be a photo of a sculpture. Yet, I really like number two's angle. I see the men in the boat, their arm/oars in the water.
But, after flipping back and forth a few times, number one seems the more powerful to me. Really striking.

To begin with, I liked no 2 better. It's the one I would put on a postcard because it sets off the sculpture against the sunset, but when I looked at it and no 1 my eyes kept getting drawn to no 1, possibly because of the placemant of the sunset relative to the sculpture.

I like number 1 the best. But I would straighten the horizon before I submitted it, if I were you. I think you have a winner there!

And what kind of camera did you get, we watn details! LOL.

I think the first one has the best composition. Really beautiful. And I like Joan's suggestion about straightening the horizon.

Joan, the camera is a Canon PowerShot A430. It has 4 megapixels, and 4x optical zoom, and loads of programs I'm still learning to use.

The first one would be the best, but it doesn't capture the whole object, so I would have to pick the second over the first, since you can see most, if not all, of the object.

I believe that the object being captured should always be done so in it's entirity, at least for making photos for enlargements.

An exception to this rule would be, that sometimes, only a 'part' of the object is needed for a great photo, such as the flower of a large plant, as long as you capture the 'whole' flower.

This is just my opinion, and everyone sees things differently from me, so to each his/her own...
