What is your favorite dog shampoo?
Comments (44)I use Mane & Tail shampoo & conditioner on my dogs. It's got a pleasent smell, but not too perfume-y. It also leaves them feeling sooooo soft! I'm another who only bathes my dogs maybe 4 or 5 times a year. I have a long haired St. Bernard & a beagle/cocker spanial mix. Neither of them get stinky unless they roll in something, which doesn't happen often since they have a fenced-in backyard to play in while outside. I used to bathe my SB frequently b/c of his long hair, but found that it irritated his skin. Now, I brush when needed & of course towel dry when he's been in the rain. I clean my dog's ears frequently b/c they can get stinky if left alone, but bathing is limited to summer time (May or June to Sept. or Oct.) and only a few times at that. I also shave my SB during the summer b/c of his intolerance to heat, so this helps renew his coat & keeps him smelling good! :)...See Morewhat to do with dogs that will not approach a human?
Comments (10)I don't know where you live but most shelters/pounds will kill them if you call them to get the dogs. Some of rural pounds gas or kill by heart stick which is as bad as it sounds. If you don't want these dogs dead your best bet is to go to Petfinder and locate the rescues in your area. See if you can get one or more of them to help you trap these dogs. They may be able to take them but its more likely that they will be more open to helping you care for them. Once you have them is custody you will need to have a place to put them, so you will need a fenced area just for them, or crates if you are going to bring them into the house. You need to confine them so they can't escape but it needs to be located where they won't stress so badly that they freak out. Some dogs come around very quickly once they can't run from you and see that there is plenty of food and kind words. If they don't you can get some medication from your vet to calm them so you can get them in to be neutered and get their shots. They have rabies shots that last 3 years now. As the rescues for help in socializing these dogs. Post over on Petfinder and see if you can get any help there. You may be surprised to find there is a lot of help available to you. Or you may have to go it alone, its hard to predict the public, but at least you want to try to help these dogs. They sound like nice dogs who just haven't had the chance to learn that humans are pretty good company. I have one like this myself. She's slow to trust, but is so very sweet that I adore her. It's fun to show her that life has changed and that good things are now coming her way every day. You sound like the kind of person who would like to do this for your girls. I hope you are able to capture them and help them out. Comments (33)Since I have multiple kind of shampoos/conditioners that I like to rotate rather than use straight through, coupled with small bathrooms, I do not store them in the shower. I get whatever I want to wash my hair with, take it in, then take it out & put away when I'm done. I dislike a shower that has a bunch of bottles of product. Also I only shampoo my hair once or twice a week. My DH always uses the same shampoo, and he shampoos his hair daily, so his stays in the shower. We have a wall niche and a small tiled-in corner shelf. If we didn't have those, I'd sequester the bottles in a plastic bin or basket that could drain and keep it in the corner on the floor. for the bathroom that has a shower/tub combo (as opposed to just a shower) i let the kids keep a shampoo, a conditioner, and a soap along the tub edge (this was before we installed a niche). Anything additional sat on the floor in a plastic basket....See MoreWhat brand of baby shampoo?
Comments (9)Back before they started using antimicrobial dish soap, we used dish soap. Now that they put the bad stuff into dish soap, we switched to shampoo. It should be a clear shampoo, so I always say baby shampoo because it is universally understood what I mean. The real requirement is that it be clear and not contain conditioning oils that make it cloudy. morpheuspa used one from Dollar Tree that had a fragrance of apples. Also don't be afraid of overdoing it. Morpheuspa also makes soap as a hobby. He used the chemical equivalent of an entire bottle of shampoo per 1,000 square feet with no ill effects on the lawn....See Morejoepyeweed
