Soak Up Nature With Outdoor Baths
Luxurious and downright sexy, outdoor baths are the ultimate back-to-nature indulgence for modern homes
Why do we love outdoor showers so much? Is it the little exhibitionist in us all that gets a thrill out of being naked outside? Is it the warm (or cold) air on our skin? Is it the romance? Whatever it is, the outdoor shower has become an icon of the good life. Taking a shower in the great outdoors is sort of like being on permanent vacation.
And then there's the outdoor bathtub, which is just straight-up sexy. Luxuriating in a tub of warm water under the stars? The best. To my mind it's even better than the standard hot tub — no chlorine, and you can use shampoo.

A bath with a view. It's also covered — imagine yourself immersed in hot water on a cold and rainy night, the branches dripping all around you.
A shower and bath combo in its own little (well, not so little actually) outdoor room, complete with windows, tile and a ceiling of tree branches.
Outstanding in its field! I'd float some of that rosemary in the water for nature's own aromatherapy. Oh, also, there seems to be a dragon in the tub. Hope you don't mind.
Another indoor-outdoor example, this time with a gorgeous copper tub on a bed of river stones.
I love the modern, casual look of the corrugated metal walls and the cement floor. It's unfussy, but it looks finished.
This outdoor shower is indicated by nothing more than a tile arch. If there's plumbing nearby, this would be a fairly easy project (not for me, but for someone handy and patient).
The outdoor claw-foot tub is so romantic.
This poolside shower reminds me of the little beach cabanas in Europe. It's a bit closed in, but you do get to shower in privacy (no points for potentially being caught naked).
This shower with a separate dressing area is the full monty. In warm climates this could work as your only shower.
It would be a real shame to live in Hawaii and not have some sort of outdoor bathing setup. This one has an indoor tub and an outdoor shower surrounded by a volcanic rock wall. Privacy, luxury and tropical breezes.
Brilliant human-and-dog shower combo (except when the dogs escape while soapy and make a break through the dog door). I love the clean, white corner. Simple and modern.
A shimmering green tile wall is both bathroomy and gardeny. It's almost like a piece of art.
The old standard. Simple, no-nonsense and major points for being-caught-naked potential.
