Painting ceiling blue grey. Suggestions/thoughts?

Okay, here is the 1st in my (next) long list of questions about our living room. We just paid someone to paint the ceiling white and I hate it. We need to warm up the room a bit and I want to bring the ceiling down. Also the white is doing nothing for the woodwork. The walls are painted a very creamy white (BM Lancaster whitewash). It has more colour in it than shows in the picture. It is a good match for the creams in the chair fabric.

The chairs have a sort of bluey/grey/green colour in them that I would like to use as an accent on a table or chair in the room. I was thinking of using this same colour on the ceiling, but would it be too dark. Is there a rule about painting ceilings? I don't want a baby or sky blue. Any suggestions? I prefer ben moore, but am willing to colour match for the perfect shade.

This is the only pic of the ceiling I have (with the old paint colour).

New chairs and new paint.
